The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Howdy folks!

My name is Josh but I go by Ohblee. I started getting into costumes and props a few years ago and it looks like USCM might become a new obsession.

One of the highlights of D*C this year for me was actually waking up and attending the parade with my fellow marines! Great time!

I guess I'm going to be hanging around this board a lot from now on.

hey all,

My name is Charlie, I'm a college student, junior year. I've been posting on the old aliens forum for around 8 months. Met some really nice guys @ Dragoncon.

I got into the whole prop collecting/making business by stumpling onto spat's webpage & drooling over the armor.

Now as we speak, I'm working on a sadar & plans of a pvc sentry unit, which will be seen @ our fan table @ Dragoncon 2004!!!!

Stay frosty!!!!

Tenmill,

I noticed that you have a link to my website from yours.

While that's fine could you please link it to my front page (ww.encom.demon.co.uk).

I appreciate that you liked to the 'cats' page because it's a direct way in but that way people don't get to read the 'welcome' page, and I want to make sure new visitors read the section about contacting me. I get quite a lot of mail through the site from people who clearly haven't read that section.

Also please link it so that it opens in a new window and not in a frame on your site, to the inexperienced viewer it might appear that it's your own site.

Thanks in advance,

Harry.

My name is Brian Ignaut. I'm originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, but am now attending the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan where I'm studying Mechanical Engineering. I've always loved Aliens, and have been a part of this board for about 6 months now.

Current projects include a pulse rifle, and the fastest firing fully independent potato gun ever built. Hooyeah!

Hi guys, it's me Stuart from England formerly known as the blob but Ezboard didn't like me trying that here so I changed my name.
Total Aliens nut with the wallet that never opens. I swear I got a few 'extinct' notes in there somewhere (well they keep changing the notes so often).
Currently trying to get a set of armour made by the Master himself TE.

Hi Marines,
My name is Scott Paige. I'm 35 years old, I work full-time making props in N.Y. mostly for theatre, but we do get some cool jobs from time to time.
One of my loves is "military sci-fi" such as ALIENS, Space: Above and Beyond, SF3D, Starship Troopers, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.
I am a sort of "focal point" for a small costume group called Hangar 18 Studios. We have all been friends for years and finally decided to try and organize ourselves one day. The group is still a work in progress. Our crowning acheivement was the creation of several Final Fantasy Deep Eyes costumes which we unveiled at Dragon Con last year, 2003. I find that a lot of us ALIENS types appreciate those costumes.
I've been a little late in getting to this new forum, but I'm glad to be back with my old squad!
Scott

'Bout time I posted in this thread ;)

Hi, I'm Jesse, I'm 36, living in the San Jose California area, and I have Smartgun on the Brain :D "Smartguns are my specialty", to (mis)quote Bill Paxton in some other little sci-fi movie ;) I first started serious research and data/media collection to build the ultimate smartgun rig about a year and a half ago. Since that time I've acquired some real Steadicam parts, including a vest, and Stephan (aka Pulseriflefan) has been kind enough to lend me original source headset parts to pull molds from.

Loved the movie when I saw it in the theater, and have never looked back. Aliens is what got me started in the propping hobby, though I've been known to Orc around, squire for Panzer Cops, have aspiriations to a full S:AAB vacuum combat rig, and have various other kits and props laying around waiting to be built ;) I'm also part of Hi-Impact, along with several other board members.

Looking forward to Dragon*Con 2004 already :D
Jesse

Hi all,
I am Steve LaBoyteaux (37) from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I have always loved the Alien movies. I am an Aircraft inspector for a real job but a hobbiest prop maker with Richies Armor. I got started by making costumes for my kids.
My first Aliens project was the Mini-marine for my son Alex. I got lots of help from so many very talented people to make it happen. Well then I got "bit by the BUG" as Mr. Radler put it to me.
Since then I have been hooked.
Glad to be on board.
Steve

Hi everyone,

I guess it's time to re-introduce myself.

Name's Alex. Age 27. Been a member of the old board for about 3 years. Big into the Aliens series (yes, I did like all 4 movies) as well as FX movies in general which lead me to my current employment... I work in the Digital Effects Industry in Los Angeles, California.

As far as prop collecting goes... it's the Marines and their gear that I'm a fan of. Been trying to build a pulse rifle for years... and the dream finally came true a couple years ago.

Like Rook, I'm big into airsoft (been actively playing for 13+ years, 6+ years with my current team back in Hong Kong when I'm there).

As is the case with many of the other members here... I've got a few projects under my hat, some will be debuting on this board *very* soon. 'Nuff said. ;)

You can see me at my yahoo album:

Hi Guys

I have been posting on the other board for a while and just discovered this one. I have been a fan since the movie came out and narrowly missed some props at the original Bonhams sale. I bid £195 for some Marine armour but it went for £225!! Anyway, I rekindled my search for props and bought an Alien Warrior at Sotheby's in 1998. This did not come with an original head or ribs though.

Since then I have bought an original head and have had the ribs recast from the original mold which we discovered at Elstree studios. If anyone wants a set Bruce Hansing will do some and they look perfect. I used Dan Short and Harry's photos as reference to match the rest of the suit. I did have two tails but sold one throught the props store recently.

I have recently bought a set of Frost armour, helmet and BDU's but I am looking for the leg armour to complete it (see other post). I could get Terry English to make some but I want some originals preferably.

I will be taking some shots of all of the above to post to my link (soon BBC!:D )
Will keep in touch

STEPHEN

My name is Hans and live in the Cleveland area. I have been collecting Alien stuff since 1979 when the first Alien movie came out. The first thing I ever bought was the kenner Alien (I got it at Toys R Us for $10) My main interest is in the creatures. I have eggs, aliens heads, and facehuggers. My pride and joy is my 7 foot Alien warrior replica (from Resurrection) and full size Queen head.

My turn, I guess...

Name's Jon Goff. Board name is Goffcorp on pretty much all the boards. Been poking around here for a while and have been into props/costuming for multiple years. I first focused on the Star Wars stuff (have a Tusken, TIE pilot and snowtrooper costumes) and have been more interested in other costuming opportunities lately.

Have been slowly acquiring various goodies and built up a motion tracker. Also have a case of nifty PR grenades thanks to the efforts of some friends of mine. The coveted pulse rifle is still in the acquisition phase, but I do have a good portion of the parts necesary, including those elusive SPAS parts. :)

Hoping to ultimately have a complete set of marine armor and plan on having it ready to go by Comic-con in San Diego next year. A realistic goal (at this point).

Hi all,
my name is Ernst-Udo Peters (38) out of St Hubert, Quebec.
I am heavily into all sorts of military Scifi.
Aliens has to be the movie that started the current craze of military sci-fi or at least it started the certain look.
I still have a hard time watching the original Alien movie. That chestburster has given me nightmares for years.
I have a few items from various movies and tv series.
I am currently working on my second pulse rifle.
I also have an M-590 in the works.. oh excuse me that's S:AaB.

VA2 ECM is my callsign in amateur radio.
I am currently on the hunt for a few aliens patches, especially the "Smartass, We aim by P.F.M." and also the so-called "Delta" patch.
It is great to see that the Aliens forums are continuing.
Merci.

Yeah, though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil
for I am the best-armed s.o.b. in the valley.

Hey everyone.
I'm Donald, 31 and a recent Aliens convert (pretty much missed most of the late 70's and early to mid 80's movies due to parents). Alien: Resurection was my first Alien movie. Love the Space Marines, and am hoping to do a costume for next D'Con, though I tend to be more into uniques/oddball costumes (I'm the guy who will watch a movie and want to do the costume of the extra on the left that is on screen for 5 seconds).

I guess I'll chime in to prove I'm still alive and kicking. My name is Matt, I currently live around Dallas, TX. I just got out of the Army about two weeks ago, so I've got tons of free time for my hobbies! Oh yeah, no steady paycheck (d'oh!). I haven't made anything new since the last photos I put up around June (I still haven't finished updating my website, either). One of these days...
Anyhow, glad everybody made it.
