The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Aha. Well I'd say if you REALLY love working on stuff more than necessary buy goldenarmor. If you like stuff that's innacurate and requires LOADS of prep work. Buy goldenarmor. If you want a resin kit that comes with no instructions at all. Buy goldenarmor. If you buy a shoulder lamp kit and expect anything to be anywhere near ready, don't buy goldenarmor.

I'll take some pictures and upload them. Just gimme a few mins to upload to photobucket.
Some parts are alright but the part that comes off where the light is....Err..Well basically he gave me 4 pieces of white ABS and one clear ABS. I guess I'm supposed to cut them to the same size and somehow fix them together with spacers. I am looking to try and put an actual light in the resin which is why I haven't posted anything up about it yet.

There's gonna be a delay with this as I don't have a tiny head paintbrush to do the camo paint. I've looked in the shops and there's nothing suitable so I've had to order online. That'll take 2-3 days. Gutted.

Yeah when I saw the white pieces I thought "Ohh he's given me some free ABS offcuts. That'll come in handy for some snap plates....Wait a minutes. No....Are they? Ahh sh** it's for me to make a 'cage' for the light fitting end....So where's the instructions? Oh yeah. None"

I also, foolishly, bought some grenades from him. Those need prep work before painting. If only I'd discovered Spatcave before I handed over the money. Ah well, you live ad learn.

Until the brushes come back I'll file and sand the grenades ready to paint.

Well you've got to be thankful you've even got a product from him, there's a few tales on the RPF about him taking the order then not talking to the customer again nevermind shipping anything out.

When it boils down to it, the parts aren't great but they are workable, your doing great so far.

Oh you're definitely right there. I am waiting on the missing shoulder part but he has emailed me to say it was going out last Friday.
I'll probably keep armour, shoulder lamp and grenade updates to this thread rather than starting another.

I would recommend games workshop brushes dude, we do lotsa sizes and are great for model work of all scale. So, far, you've done ace on this armour man. Especially from what the starting pics showed. You're a leg-end!

scrape the green away the silver shows through gives the armour a weathered metal look

Oh. Fair enough. Not the ay I've ever painted weathered looks on..well, anything. But I guess on something this scale it could work well enough, shows literal chip marks and such

Well I painted it silver first incase the paint actually scrapes off so it'll show silver underneath instead of plastic. I will be dry brushing some silver on once I've completed the camo paint.
The shoulder part turned up today so that's been painted. I also painted the grenades. They'll need a little bit of touch up and clear coat before they're finished. Will get that done tomorrow.

I found when painting my brodie helmet that a couple of coats of purity seal work well. Short bursts only, NOT too thick, and that help with chipping. Allow first coat to dry before adding another. It worked on a steel ww1 lid, so should work on yours. I one tried just matt varnish but didn't like the result. Dunno what u used on your PR. Also, the silver in case of chips is a great idea, can't believe I didn't realise that was yer plan :D could I recommend, paint some black where the metal drybrush will go late? It lends the 'damage' some nice lines rather just straight onto the OD :)

I'll try out that when I paint my helmet. I'm not too bothered though as I have a camo helmet cover for the helmet.

Does masuto make lamps that actually work? if he does, I might make the one I have up. Paint it really nice and sell it on ebay and use the money to get another one.

Paint brushes arrive today so I'll be doing the first layer colour of camo paint.

Excuse the poor picture. I didn't paint the armour outside and it was too awkward to carry it all outside just to take a picture.
So the first part of the camo is done. It's black which will be dulled once dry.
I have another 3 or 4 colours for the camo paint. That will be done over the next 2-3 days depending on how well the paint dries.
