id also go for milliput, once mixed and in place if you wet your fingers you can reshape things with ease esp if you need to extend the part like you do. myself id add milliput to the part itself, after its in position wet shape it, then sand off the milliput gradually when its hard (24hrs later) until you have the correct angle you need and it will be a tight fit for final fitting. milliput is the best 2 pounds i ever spend when making models

This is awesome stuff and can be used for a whole range of things not just models,I should know I've used it.
It's so easy to use and like you suggested wetting your fingers helps you reshape.
I'd use this like a shot,it's cheap too.

It looks to me from the picture that the cocking mechanism part needs to be raised slightly on the left hand side so all lines run parallel with the shroud. Maybe use some card as suggested to prop it up a little then use milliput to fill the rest of the gaps. You could just use milliput but may use a fair bit unecessarily. If you want to try milliput but cant find it let me know and I can hopefully pick you some up at the weekend and post it to you.

No updates yet. Cocking mech has been glued and I'll fill in the small gaps with the mulitiput. I've still got about 1/4 of the pack left.
Oh I had a nice parcel from America today from Spats. Yay! :D Gonna be working on those bits soon.
Oh if anyone has a spats rifle, where is the hole for the on/of switch?

If I wasn't busy with a troop this Friday I 'd have loads done, but it'll have to wait until the weekend.

have a look at spats site there is a section on constructing a rifle and where he puts the switch you will have to make the hole yourself
better still here is the link

Shame you've glued it. I was going to comment on What DKMax pointed out regarding the top receiver (cocking handle part), not been in line/parallel.

I think it needs the bottom cutting off at an angle.
eg the red area to be removed

This might have also made it fit better in there, and also make it line up with the rifle barrel better.

Bit late to this, as I could have taken a pic of the top of the receiver/shroud area, showing how the cocking area looks in that area.

Yeah. The shroud slipped off the desk and fell to the floor and the stock handle snapped in the middle so I had to glue it back together.
I'm now trying to find the best place to put the switch for my counter.

I did an episode 1 troop on Friday so I've been a bit busy. Made the local newspaper and a video and article online on the media wales website. :)
I've painted the handgun and knife I got from spatscave.

I might have some update pics later today if I manage to find some time to cut the hole for the switch. If I do, I'll then glue it to the shroud.

Id put the switch where the trigger for the grenades would have been it be a simple matter to file a small hole and the switch would be hidden there

Aahh unlucky about the drop. I nearly done the same a few times with my spulse. Have a nice chunk missing out my right thumb nail though thanks to the craft knife lol.

I agree, you should put the counter switch in the GL trigger finger well. Its where i have it on my spulse. I used an old soldering iron to bodge a hole through the resin. It worked neatly and required no sanding either lol.

What is the vp70 like? Do you have any pics?

If you get a push-to-make switch and put it on the bottom of the mag housing (NOT the actual mag base) then when the mag is inserted it'll come on, looks a bit better that. You'll still need a conventional switch somewhere to override the ptm switch so you don't drain the battery when it's in display.
Hope that makes sence?

I've put the switch on the opposite side of the counter. I'll try to get some pics of it later. It'll do where it is for now. I plan on hopefuly getting a better pulse, one made out of plastic wold be nice. Like a BB gun.
I'll also try to take some pics of the VP70 once it's finished drying. I still have a bit of silver paint to add to it later.

It is. Word of warning. Don't use plastikote paint. It's crap. I've used it loads of times but it doesn't like the cold weather and it's not put on a nice smooth finish like it should do.
Halfords paint is better.

I'll hopefully be putting on a coat of paint on some parts tomorrow before I glue them. Better to paint some tricky to reach areas now than try when it's all glued together.

It still looks wet in the pics. Are you going to give it a sanding then try again?

spraying the spulse was not bad at all. The tricky bits believe it or not was getting inside the shroud and where the trigger guard meets the counter section. The gap between the vent and GL and also the shroud and GL were difficult afterwards.
Have you decided on colours yet?

I think I will sand it down a bit with something like 1200 grit. Just to dull the gloss sealer a bit.

Hi,

00, or finer, grade steel wool might be worth a go. It would give you a finer finish that 1200 grit I reckon.

Nice work on the kit by the way. :like:

Cheers.

John. :)

Use a bit of water or spit (the latter works very well) onto the piece your sanding and it makes it really smooth (I.e, wet sand it).
The liquid stops the little particles scratching the suface, if you don't know how it works ;)

Another small update due to the terrible weather. It's too windy to do any more tonight and it looks as if it's about to pour with rain.

I've given all parts 2 coats of primer (orange) and I will give them all another 2 coats of grey primer.
I can already see imperfectons in the resin that wern't noticeable before. They'll have to be sorted out prior to painting.

Image

Once this is completed I'll give my closing thoughts on the build. I have a suspicion it'll be rather negative.
