The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Birdie, did you buy an IMEX kit?

Maybe testors or a Diecast kit?

I think we can rule out IMAI and Revell.

IMEX, Testors, + Matchbox are up.

Not willing to spend too much on a kit though.

Found a pic of the underside of the Matchbox part. You can see a recessed 'lip' on the questionable section. That may mean something attaches to the 'male' side. My Imai part is completeley flat on both sides, no recess.

Matt, which model of camera did you get?

I think the part you are referring to is connected to the shutter release button. Mine didn't have that part, as I have the wrong (too recent) model.

Cool!!!

I wish I had more parts to assemble! :D

The yellow part is found here:

Image

It surrounds the button and extends back into the case.

It's placed upside down in the helmet assembly with a small part trimmed off. All should become clear once you have it in hand...

The mystical "L Piece"..... The search is over!

Now I'm hanging on the edge of my seat!!! :D

I have but one question...

How the hell do you keep finding these parts!!!???

What with the 9 pieces from the Revell Tabor/ARII Orguss Variable Drifand, then finding that lead on the 600 series polaroid and now this... I'm loving it!!

Ok long storry short answer:

Revell 1/72 Axoid Robotech Changers

The original kit seems to be the 1/72 VF-1J Millia Type variable Valkyrie. Other kits from this series might work as well, but will probably have differend "ears" (which doesn't matter if you don't want the helmet sight unit).

Cheers,
Stefan

Stefan,

Where are the SG headset parts located? I can see a part that may be located on the camera, but otherwise I'm lost.

And I have to repeat the question: how on earth do you ID these kits?!?

Hmm.

I've had a look through my SG headset photo's.

I've located this part:

Image

I didn't realise just how small it is at first.

Here it is:

Image

The mirror part is on the opposite side of the same peice but is partly covered by a hemisphere and an other miscelaneous part.

I'm stumped on the other parts though.

The three parts to the left are located on the block below the earpad (two on the front and one at the back). The other pieces are from the inside of the eyepiece.

As for finding parts - I have no more infos on these than you. Just doing some detective work on the net. I found the axoid by looking on the boxart of the Armored Valkyrie kit. I noticed that the ear/antenna was similar to the piece on the helmet sight. The kit part was too small and of wrong shape tough. So I had a look what other Valkyrie kits of larger scale were to be found in the Revell Robotech series. That brought me to the Changers and finally to the Axoid.

Cheers,
Stefan

Well, you have an amazing eye. I've studied all of those images and didn't spot anything, most of them are pretty low-res. Fantastic work :D

With all of these parts being found, Im thinking now that the eyepiece itself was NOT hand made..Im betting it was a found part as well..
