The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Honestly I was/am the same. I also kept myself out of this board for so long not wanting to refresh the thought that I would love a pulse rifle but I'll never be able to afford one. I'm still not planning to get one, I know it would just end up in my closet never to be seen/used/played-with.
I have other interests related to the Alien trilogy though that drove me on this forum and that hopefully I'll show in some time and see what other members think.

I love the marines uniforms but for some reason I ended up collecting more Ripley's stuff than anything else (shoes, watch and for the future I'm planning the jacket). Mostly it's because they are accessories that I can wear in the real-world and they look too cool. Well, then there is also a motion tracker on the run at the moment (Ripley had that too  ).

Hello All :)
I've just recently joined this forum. Trying to obtain a service number at the moment to complete my application in to the UKCM. Loved Aliens movies for a good few years now. Used to be terrified of them when I was younger though and ran screaming from my brother's 'Alien through the wardrobe door' poster! Ha!
I love Ferro, even though she's not in the movie for too long :( I want to make a Dropship pilot uniform and then hopefully come on some Drops with you all :) Hope to meet you all soon :)

I guess it's long past time to intro myself.

My name's Ken and I've been lurking here for a year or two off and on. It started when I picked up a PR with the intention of putting an airsoft Thompson in it (a year after acquiring said Thompson it is still not done, but that's another matter). I picked up some Spat armour shortly after (gotta have the whole package, neh?). Wore it to a con recently, and a couple parties but not what you'd call active duty. Not much call for Marines here in Winnipeg.

I've got Alien and Aliens on VHS (yes, I'm that old), but no directors cuts nor DVDs nor Bluray. None of the fan books or any of that stuff. I like the movies, but I'm not what one would call obsessive (no offence to those who are, or who may resent being labeled as such!). I did borrow the director's cut of Aliens but truth be told I didn't notice which were the restored scenes (blasphemy, I know).

Surely you DID notice the colony scenes added in Aliens!? You don't get to see the colony "inhabitated" on VHS. In Alien on the contrary the cut scenes MAY pass unnoticed to a casual watcher, I can understand that.
Anyway sounds like you have quite a gear already for one that just "likes" the movies. :P

Welcome to the forum Ken

Hi Ken,
I'm new here too! Nice to meet you :) Just a quick note about the Directors cut of Alien : It's worth getting hold of and watching just to see the extra scene where Lambert SLAPS Ripley right across the face!!
"You were gonna leave us out there!!"

Classic :)

In my defence, I had not watched Aliens for 1.5 decades when I saw the new version so I didn't actually remember what was or was not in the theatre release.

Yup! If I want something, I get it. My only regret may be that now that I'm spending more time here I will want more and more and more!

Hello from Southern California. My name is JANIS and my user name ndatmo is an inside joke to myself...I do film/TV background work and extras are variously called 'Background' and 'Atmosphere'. Central Casting used to state on your work voucher what 'character' you were portraying...Morgue attendant, Moon Miner, Pediatric Nurse, etc. If you were a generic person you were delineated as "ND ATMO" for Non-Descript Atmosphere.

I'm very happy to have found this site as I have been constructing NOSTROMO Flightsuit Replicas and have just completed my first "DALLAS" Jacket approximation. I've sold 5 Flightsuits to fans of ALIEN on eBay and have some listed now. I saw ALIEN in an Indiana Theatre when it first opened and it has remained a favorite and one of the few films I rate a 10 on IMDb.
