The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Yep. Way too small.

Anybody agree on the speaker?

Stefan, I'll get the correct leg part out.

Matt, as soon as Gio posted the pics I thought it looked like a speaker behind the grill.

Just a a random thought, did any of the transformer toys or kits come with any sort of electronics??

While I'm in the thread can I please give a BIG shout out and thank you to Gio for sharing & posting all these amazing pics.

Absolutely loving this thread. :)

Cheers,

Andy

I thought "speaker" when I saw it as well...
If we could get a photo from a different angle we could confirm whether the voice coil wires are present as per this photo (the two black shiny blobs)

Are the screws around the perimeter to hold the finished assembly to the base, or are they just put in around the edges to keep it from moving side to side (like locating dowels). I guess what I'm trying to say is, do they actually go through any part of the buildup, or are they butted against the edge of it.

Dang, I thought from the looks that he had something. Any of those kits in larger form? The fact that it has a bend in the middle of the cutout grill section which makes it asymmetrical disqualifies a lot of common items like speaker grills.

Vented piece:
Have a look at the slotted piece attached to the muffler
of many AR125's.

You can see it here (just under the Smartgun forks)

http://w2.bikepics.com/pics/2007/02/26/ ... 8-full.jpg

Considering that the AR125 was used for other pieces...
..maybe?

Although, that speaker behind the vents has had me bothered for quite some time.
The more I look at it, the more I get the feeling that the speaker and the vented piece may belong together.

Another suggestion, maybe a gun turret from a battle cruiser kit?

I believe they are grafted to the parts for mounting purposes and

additional detaling.

I'm wondering if a "tube" of some sort was modeled into the build, or if there is a hole of some sort in the build if you were to remove the screw. It is outside the physical borders of the main build pieces that were presented above unassembled. It looks like it has fillets from the screw to the body of the build.

I received my plugs from Bitsbox in the UK today. They appear to be correct, the notch in the ring is present and correct. I have five of these at the moment & can get more easily.

Looks great!

I'd take one. If you'd like a sand(?) colored one we could simply exchange them. Otherwise I'd paypal the money.

Cheers,
Stefan

Hello friends,
I checked about the "speaker":
it appears not a real speaker but a part of a model kit in plastic!!! ... this is what I can see...
Look at the photo...

Note: all black screws ... are "fake"!
they don't hold the pieces and/or the bases!

Bye

Weird...can't find that part on Soundwave or Blaster.

Were there any other Transformers/Mechas that were like that?

I am not sure if that part is a "fake speaker"!
... it can be only a "CONICAL" plastic part with "speaker like effect"...

I'll look for better photos wth more details...

Bye
Giò

Could be the inside of a rocket pod/booster?

I was thinking the same thing - looked to me to be similar to the shape of the end of spaceship/rocket booster 'nozzles' for lack of a better word to describe them.

After all the picts, I'll have to scale mine down a little.

I can print on out for you, so you won't have to make it.

Sound like a good trade?

Don't worry about it man, I was kidding. That part is kind of loony 'cos there are so many variants of the valkyrie design it gives me a headache.

And then there's Tabor....

Just drop me a pm with your address and I'll get one off to you.

Cheers,

Simon
