The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Don't forget folks that any sales interest threads should be taken to the Base PX section.

I found 12. I'll post the official for sale thread in a bit.

We can use this thread, hopefully, for a paint colour guide.

What kind of black to use when paiting these guns? I've seen several pictures of real VP-70s which seem to have the barrel of a slightly different tone from the grip. Am I seeing things or are the two parts indeed slightly different in colour?

The top actually resemble of bess brown but maybe I'm really seeing things there.

Well the grip/lower half of the body is polymer whilst the barrel/slide is metal on the real thing.

I have a question about the real deal VP70. The shoulder stock that is often pictured in auctions and such, what does this do overall, help with stabilization for aiming?

I was thinking this could be an addition to the load out Colonial Marines carry.

Not sure how well it works as a stick (or even as a stock ) since I've never handled one myself but I do know it has a part which engages a catch on the pistol and "unlocks" the 3 round burst facility! In other words as a pistol it is semi automatic (single shot per trigger press) whereas when the stock is fitted there is an extra 3 round burst (per trigger press) available.

Ahh, so to recreate the effect would you suggest metal dark grey/black paint on the slide and matte black on the grip?

Spent all that time playing silly buggers and forgot to post the important stuff.

As mentioned the VP is just like the glock or any other polymer frame pistol with a metal slide.

My method of painting is a little more involved than I care to write out but the basic gist of it is, use a flat base as a sealer basecoat etc, mask the slide off and then spray the grip frame with a semigloss or satin finish, I wouldnt use gloss it's too shiny. then un-mask the slide and take a little powdered graphite and rub it into the flat black... polish/buff it with a soft cloth.

That was the simplest way of doing it, the more involved way involves airbrushing and several layers of paint. :)

we used a metallic for the slide (also replaced the barrel with a metal one) and black textured paint for the hand grip, turned out nice, a couple of guys painted the handle black and the slide the same OD as the PR.

So, do I have to ask if anyone has a VP70 stock that just happened to fall into some rubber?

Now that I know it unlocks the 3 round burts, I'm thinking this would be a great addition to a USCM costume.
