The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

He currently doesn't have a working account on AL - the board detected that he registered a 2nd account and it disabled both. I have twice tried to contact him to work out which account he wants to use or if he needs help with his password, but I have had no reply.

EDIT: I should point out that both usernames are variations on his real name - I don't think he was out to deceive.

Star Arms kits came out in the very early 90s. They consisted of heavy chunks of resin (such as the Thompson lower and magazine well) and nearly paper thin vacuform plastic parts (such as the SPAS cage).

I was suckered into buying one in 1992 to the tune of $400. When I realized how much trouble it would be to put together it sat in my closet for nine years. I brought it back out to give it the old college try one more time in 2001... only to give up after a week. I unloaded it on ebay for $100.

This was the boxart- it is this pretty cool looking picture that hooked me into this over-priced kit.

Here's what you got:

And the instructions...

Here is a recent ebay pic to give you a better idea of what's what:

Image

The white parts are vac-plastic. The cream coloured parts are the big resin bits. So to put this into perspective, the thin plastic shroud has to support the resin Thompson lower and resin carry handle. Oh yeah- the Thompson upper and lower isn't one piece either; it is divided by the vac-plastic shroud. The resin upper sits on top of the lower half of the plastic shroud.

Confusing? You betcha!

Star Arms kits are a nightmare. Don't waste your money or time with them.

I'm inclined to believe he was duped and needs the money (to get married).

But he's not pulled the auction or lowered the price....so he is trying to get the money....which he won't.

I mailed me back and is having trouble finding the original person he bought it off....no surprise!

But he has stated in the auction the 'authenticity is in question' which is legitimate.
