The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

That's where you're going wrong then... Even tight 95s are easy-peasy to roll, but USCM BDU sleeves are helluva thin for some reason, must be something to do with the old 'lean, green, killing machine' Marine monicker.

My point exactly, two entirely different cuts of shirt, hence two entirely different results when rolling the sleeves.

Exactly!

So no offense ( ) but all of this "I know how to roll sleeves to military specs" talk really doesn't help- the custom USCM bdus are too small in the cuffs to properly roll them up. At least with the pair I own, and would seem the majority of us here as well.

And Woody- thanks for the compliment but my arms aren't that big. I mean yeah... they're big ( 8) )... But Trevor looks like he could wrap his hand around one of my arms with that baseball glove of a hand!

EDIT - Sixty types faster than me.

ANOTHER EDIT- Okay I just tried rolling the sleeves up before putting the shirt on. I could barely get the sleeve on past the crook of my elbow, forcing the sleeve roll up my bicep as far as I could. It's hella tight and uncomfortable- felt like it was cutting off my bloodstream.

Hmmpf... Maybe my arms are that big!

I would be interested to see how "thick" the rolls are. In the movie it looks like they are rolled maybe 2 or 3 times, and more like a tshirt. when I roll my current ones up they get pretty thick fast.

Odd... is it consistent through CM BDU that the right leg pocket is on the front of the leg and not on the side as on the left leg??

Well I would imagine that along with the mandarin collar and lack of lower pockets on the bdu top- it was done to set it apart from modern bdus.

Some commercial 'Combat/Cargo' trousers have pockets on the front as opposed to the side.
Pilots and vehicle operators sometimes have this same feature on their kit, for ease of access when sat down.

My guess is that CM BDUs have one of each, for the best of both worlds.

Yes, thats a very good point. I reccon if they spend a long time being strapped into the APC during trans-orbital flights a easy to reach pocket is good to have especially as there is no cargo-webbing on the breastplates. So a utility pocket for squatting positions does make sense.

The point I'm making is that we are not talking about any shirt. I can roll the sleeves up on a set of US Marine Woodland bdus, DPM, or a Canadian Garrision jacket- I can't with my 2PAT bdus.

Have you tried roliing the sleeves up with the shirt off of you, then try to slip your arms through the already rolled up sleeves ? Unless you have 18" biceps (relaxed) you should be able to get them through.

Yeah I tried that already Steve.

It's the circumference of the cuff itself. The sleeve itself might be wide (I certainly don't have 18 inch arms by any stretch  )- but the cuff isn't 18 inches wide- more like 14 or 15 inches (just guessing).

With the cuff of the sleeve rolled up to the height of my bicep, the cuff is too tight around my arm. I'd have to cut the cuff off (and maybe a couple of inches of sleeve) for it to be comfortable.

Nah .. don't do that. Send it back to me and we will modify the cuff ends to incorporate a split like you see in dress shirts. Should not be a problem. We never made that becuz it's not accurate of course. But if you wanted to address this, all we need is the shirt back and I will send it back to you when it's done. ;)
