The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Some work on the front hangers, bolted to the barrel block rear and a (inaccurate) u bracket at the front for strength. Lathed a rod of ally and bolted it between the to[p holes - all nice n solid.

Also done a bit on the rear safety trigger, drilled out the receiver to 20mm and used some of Matt's leftover resin barrel (has wood dowel in it) for the grip tube - waste no want not!
Clamped the clutch lever around the tube. Still needs the block/rod/trigger mech cover.

Got the foam grips in today and they look pretty accurate.
For the charging grip i just cut a slit 2" up from the bottom and slipped it over the '42 grip and superglued it back together.

I was only joshing, I was waiting for someone to call me out on the fact I was looking at the lathe rather than the tasty smartgun.

Hell, I wouldn't know what to do with a lathe. :p

Anyhew, 'nother update:
My feed tray hasn't got the proper locating lugs to attach the drum mag so i've made extensions out of ally strip and bolted them in place. A very fiddly job with mucho guesswork.

The feed tray itself is screwed to the receiver and the top cover and trunion are all now glued/screwed in place.

Note the feed tray is surface hardened to the extent that it's impossible to drill using normal HSS bits, I used a small grinding wheel in a dremel to remove this surface layer before drilling the various holes.

Got a piece of 2" dia x 1/4" wall ally tube today and did the lathe work on the muzzle. Done it as one piece - looks a bit pimp at the moment.

Will put it on my mill to do the holes and latch ramps.

How much to make a second one of those muzzle brakes? The tabs in the front keep breaking on the resin ones

Yeah i've broken two tabs on my sentrygun so I wanted metal for my SG to avoid the same breakage.

i'll let you know when i've done the milling part - Prob $50-60 shipped.

Would you want the full piece as i've done here or just the 'add-on' part?

Full piece would be better - my LED cluster is glued into the base of the muzzle cone, so I'm most likely going to have to destroy the resin muzzle brake in the process of removing it.

Hmm, interesting I was just watching some of the smartgun scenes and the muzzle flash comes from the ring of 12 holes and the muzzle, but nothing from the staggered holes.

That's where the blast on most blank adapted MG42's is directed.

Great build sorry I've been silent, been making props for people...go figure. :)

You going to run electronics?

I cant decide weather to do the 'trigger' on the grip tower or the back end. Though the back end is the propper trigger, the front switch set on the grip tower is more convenient.

What i'd like to do is put a Calcium Carbide system in there, maybe linked to a SFK generator.
For the moment its enough to just complete the build non functional.

According to the tech manual both the rear grip and the GPz 'flash' button are triggers. I've always held that the rear lever is the 'safety' and that the gun won't fire from the GPZ switch unless its held.

Used a single button head bolt to secure the two halves together - screwed thru the barrel tube into the barrel sub. The barrel change flap has screws for the hinges and is held closed with a magnet.

I highly suggest a real steel barrel latch/door, just because I made one in resin don't mean you should use it. LOL

That one must be an old one, I have a vac form version that I bolt the latch to, it's a litte stronger than the resin version.
