The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I dont have the stamps to emboss the serial/code number on it but if i can find someone to do it it will be a nice touch :D ,i love the all black rifle that matt "matsuo" produced and wanted this build to look like that one ,mine is hardly a ""cannon"" or hero rifle not quite shure what category it drops into , the only way i had to get a pulse rifle was to make one ,maybe do it in black for a while then go humbrol 170 at a later date,as stated i built this for me ,with my current health problems it is a real struggle for me to do this sort of work, i have no plans to produce any of my parts for sale, i made promises to the people who helped me with drawings/measurements that it was for my use only and i would not produce them for sale, although i could do with the money :? i have promised michellejordi a spas cage "un asked for and free just a small present" for his next build as a thank you for all the help he has given me in this build and it was a lot of his work i copied to make it in the first place. I will see how i feel after this is finished if i can take on other peoples projects i am more than willing to help in any way i can with ideas or how too's ,but i must admit the more i look at the smart gun the more i would like to have a go at makin one but it would have to be a static model it will be far to heavy to wander about with, menatarms I thank you for you kind words I was beginning to worry i was going wrong as so many people were looking at my work but not saying anything. im very insecure about the stuff i do and never realy happy with it, it drives my wife daft as i keep going back to stuff over and over to get it right ,"true anal retentive" i can always find something wrong with what i do and spend most of my time pointing out faults with the stuff i make  :? i have never tried anything like this before and have never seen a pulse rifle in the flesh only pictures and a pretty naff resin mess i purchased a while ago, so i need feedback good or bad from the people who know .which is why i came here, once again thanks for the interest guys all the best . Rob

Further proof that an artist is their own worst critic.

The pieces look amazing.
Very nice work.

Rob

From what I can see you're doing a damn good job of trying to tackle something I'm not aware has ever been tried on here before. Not saying it hasn't , just that I havn't seen it. Trying to replicate something in metal is no easy task lets face it.

Trying to do what you're doing is something that's beyond me and I dare say an awful lot of people here too.

Michellejordi's scratch built PR was a real eye opener as well like ' Holy **** look at that - awesome work' and I'm sure yours will be the same. Sometimes it hard for those not 'that' in the know to make a critique on something. It looks good enough to me but I'm no expert. Also it comes down to whether you yourself are happy with it.

You're no differnet from me in that I'm a perfectionist , but also im a stubborn bastard at times and don't know when to just leave it be and stop tinkering with stuff. I've done it this week - sculpted 4 sets of alien teeth - first 3 sculpted, molded, run casts of them and junked them on the spot. Not good enough. 4th one was like '**** this it isn't perfect but theyre near enough otherwise i'll be here all year doing this.

The thread I started in the UKCM bit where I'm making this alien suit up is no different with the amount of hits to replies on it.Not that it bothers me in any way Don't forget people visit here who arent registered, or who don't post a lot , or for whatever reason don't want to. I think sometimes people need to really identify with something more before passing comment on it.

I'm sure you will see more interest as your build progresses mate

:xeno:

cheers chris :D ,looks like were a lot alike i am far more likely to mess stuff up by continualy going back to percieved faults with it "thats the bit that pisses off my wife ,dont get me wrong i wasnt worried that people werent falling over and worshiping my build its just as i said i was worried i was doing it wrong there are so many special people on here that make my stuff look like a kid with leggo :? ,i read the posts over the past few weeks about "cannon"versus Eu and wasnt sure where mine fell, not just that one there seemed to be a lot of "discussions between friends" and as a new guy at times the posts became "heated"and i thaught perhaps its time to bow out you dont belong here :( and try to finish it up on my own ,you guys are friends and have built up relationships over a long period of time and as with all families there are problems, and i know from reading your posts, that detail and getting it right is the most important thing and i was beginning to feel that mine was wrong in some way,but thank you guys n gals for your nice comments on my efforts i will try to be as accurate as is possible with the skills and materials i use and i will keep posting my work and even if you just drop in to say hi its enough for me ,even if you hate what im doing at least i will know what to change :? i feel much better about what im doing now,all the best people Rob

take my advice and dont try this at home ,farm it out to someone with a mill,in all practical ways this is not something a scratch builder should tackle  ,that said i did LOL, more so because i had to, this far in its to late to stop now ,the inside finish is lousy  but when the two parts are welded together it wont be seen and all i needed was the room to fit a couple of moving parts in wich i now have :D this was bloody hard work so dont be too harsh people, when its finished it will look the part :D got the tail to fit next and drill out the holes for trigger pivot and safety/ auto levers etc, trigger after that all the best, Rob

cheers nick and zuzus :D ,it certainly is solid havn't put this stuff on a scale but the buggers gonna be heavy metal  when its finished but i dont need to worry if i drop it just what i drop it on,if i run out of ammo i can beat the sods to death, i drilled as much as i dared to try and loose some of the weight on the trigger section, if anyone is passin can someone give me the length of a hero rifle from rear of receiver "ignore the stock" to the front of the spas cage need to get the length right , i can start to throw this stuff together soon, once again thanks for the nod people :D , Rob

I am loving this build. I have been kicking the Idea around myself to scratch build the spas cage out of steel, and seeing this actually makes me want to try.

You are doing a wonderful job. Can't wait to see it finished.

thanks mate ,as i said in an earlier post as time goes by parts are gettin harder and harder to find and are reaching silly prices if you can track them down, your also fighting most of the people on this and many other boards,i think now the spas cage is the biggest stumbling block for most builders "although matt does the best alternative"for people who want a steel rifle options are realy limited ,i chose to do this purely as an economic thing, im skint i want one.gotta make one :? the generous help i have been given on here and other places has been a major factor in this build :D and without it it would have been dead in the water, believe me its far from an easy way,but it is another option, not for everyone but with time and a lot of patience it is possible ,if you decide to give it a go i will help in any way i can just drop me a line ,all the best mate , Rob

I'll definatly share when I attempt it. I have been talking to 2 friends (aircraft machinest, and sheet metal fabricator) of mine at work, and with their help I think it will be something I can do.
