The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Looking good there, marine!

Er... I kinda have to ask... that camo paint job... how necessary is it, really? Like, are the other marines gonna throw jeers, peanuts and M-40s at me if I show up at the NSC with a simple Spataflage job?

Mine's Spataflage, although I was advised to 'weather' it a bit, as it does rather stand out in flash pics.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm waiting on no less than thirty seven packages due to the strike, a lot of which I need in time for the NSC event!

Try hobby/art shops; if nothing else, a Games Workshop store (or anything that deals with wagames/gaming figures).

You could just spray a couple of coats of matt varnish over the weathering, like I did, which dulls it down perfectly. :)

May as well post this in here, as it's about Spat armour.

Here's my final 'look', ready for the NSC, posed for at my sister's place tonight:

Image

Recent additions/mods:

Nick's webbing+belt.
Mike's pins on webbing.
Popgun on webbing.
One M40 grenade (more on order) on webbing.
Matt Noble's mag base on PR.
TK VP70 in drop leg holster.
Pouch from drop leg holster on left hip (digicam should fit in it nicely).
Faded BDUs.
Slightly weathered armour.

My sister helped with the armour side buckles, but as I didn't have access to a decent mirror, it looks like I still needed a bit of alignment with the chest section. :?

Me is a happy chappy though. 8)

I have some Mig Pigments you can use for the armour, which I can bring on Saturday. :)

BTW, I found a big enough case for my armour today:

£69 in Debenhams.

Model shop guy, my boots cost me £12 delivered, took 48 hours to arrive. Let me know if you'd like the companies details.

Regarding painted armour; my personal opinion is that the Spatoflage, as nice as it is, just doesn't quite cut it when viewed next to marines with their armour painted up with the correct screen accurate paints, brushed in camo patterns and not sprayed (sorry Spat!!! )

If you intend to simply display it or wear it whilst out solo then it's fine, but if you're with other marines Spatoflage just looks too different. Just my opinion though!! I hope I've not upset anyone...

Nah, not upset me. :)

TBH, I've seen numerous painted camos and they all look different, so (IMHO) Spat's is just another different one. :)
