The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

With Canadian troops being sent to Afghanistan, I can't understand why I'm being sent to Atlanta, GA... weird. Oh well, orders are orders.

I think I'm in a bit of trouble.
I just got my notice of active duty in the mail.
It says I need to present my notice and current valid id card.
I don't have an id card.

Something big must be going down if they're calling me up. I thought I was already done with my Individual Ready Reserve time, but I suppose it hasn't quite been eight years yet.

Guess I better hurry up and get my affairs in order since the reporting date is just a few weeks away.

Well I guess something big has really happened. Like Matt, just today I just got this notice in the mail that says I too have been given notice for active duty. I figured after 2+ decades was enough but they want more... 5 FREAKIN' YEARS! Anyway, enuff bitching. I got lots of stuff to do before my report date of 30 August. Damm, that's only 4 weeks to go to get back in shape. My Mrs isn't gonna be too happy. Hope they sorted out that cornbread recipe since my last term of service. I'll keep you grunts up to date with my travels.

Mike

What the Kung Fu are you talking about?

EDIT- I just checked the mailbox.

I received my Notice of Active Duty as well. Image

I was never even in the military for Heaven's sake! I mean I was in the RC(Air)C for 6 years and an additional year as an instructor... But that was 17 years ago!!!

There were always rumours that there was a seldom used "reserve activation clause" when I joined back in 1983- with no date limitation. Could this have something to do with it? Image

There's no deployment location specified. I guess I'll be informed at the training facility. However it looks like I'm going to be a day late arriving.

Move fast and stay low, and watch your backs out there.

Sounds like something big is indeed going down.

Here's hoping I don't get any paperwork; hell, I only got out three months ago!

Now that I re-read the posts, I think this is a special deployment, perhaps similar to the very special forces deployment back in 99 by Clinton to Iraq.

Thats what I was thinking...this HAS to be big, with all of us getting Notices. I spoke to five other guys in my Unit last week, and they also have no clue why were all getting notices like these...Im thinking its just a "training" mission and not the real deal....but that would be cool if it was  Im totally prepared for that!!

My crew still haven't managed to get my bird fixed, so I don't think I'm getting any orders anytime soon.

Just got my deployment orders today, they were delayed to my having moved.

I will be heading out to join the rest of my unit at the end of the month.

Must be big goings on to recall me.

Keep your eyes open and shoot first, no hesitation...

Holy frijoles! This bug got notice of active duty yesterday! Hmmmm.

Problem one - I don't know who my CO is. I didn't know the Queen had a name. We're just animals after all. If it's a human, well all I can say is there will be an opening in management. Sorry we're just animals after all.

Problem two - We're only leaving for Atlanta on the 30th. There's no way I can bend space & time to swing reporting in then. Will there be special dispensation for bugs (and the marines transporting them)?

:xeno:
