I have a few questions. I am thinking about adding some of these things to my marine, but am unsure whether I can do it (or if I should do it).
1) Would marines have trophies? For example a necklace of Xeno teeth/tail tip, or a facehugger digit?
2) Is it possible that a marine has received "the mark" from a Yautja (Predator) if they assisted in a hunt (ala the AVP movie)?
3) Has anyone personalised their pulse rifle? Could they please put pics up?
4) How much graffiti is too much? I have plans for several pieces on my armour (eventually), and some are sizeable...
5) Are twin sidearms allowed? I am thinking of having twin 1911 pistols.
Note: due to a baby being days away from birth, I'm figuring that it will take me a while to get all costume parts, so I am looking for ideas and tips from you all.
I think anything that will give you a good taste of your character. I don’t follow the AVP and other Xenoxploitation but understand the design concept. I imagine you want to have a “warrior” more then a futuristic soldier. Warriors wants to be identified from range and show everyone how bad ass he is; trophies, kill marks, colours, tattoos, graffiti, guns, ammunition (bandoleers), grenades, good luck charms etc.
They love to be the chief of chiefs. In this case go for everything.
Sidearms? My old saying: What's better then one? (two)
Why not a necklace of steel teeth from a Queen? (many in production regarded them as of “steel” although not the actual metal.)
I feel most fans fell for the blooper shots with PR ammo being in 20rd M1 clips instead of thick mags filling the M41 magazine well, so I would toy around with the 3D printer getting some proper dimensions of a RP-clip before making bandoleers.
If it was a grunt, its like anything else here; a balance the rope act between the Aliens (-86) fictitious aesthetics, and peoples experiences of how things “should” look like in a functional reality.
Some charm, some smaller graffiti or slogan, maybe not too conspicuous; remember everyone (your platoon) is hiding in the bush, except your neatly painted yellow Smiley on the helmet saying: “My gun is bigger then yours”.
Sidearm, why not (mission environment pending). Not seen much in reality though as usually when you come down to your pistol the enemy have more rounds left then you do ie. one surrender, or face assault weapons with your pew-pew.
Good combat knife, machete or combat hatchets, yes, these are close proximity devastators and when the situation appears, you always wished you had one.
