The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Someone needs to make a mock toy commercial in the old Kenner style with these figures.

Don't mind this little birdie tweeting that the first prototype of the helmets arrived today :)

Pretty happy with the first print, size is pretty good. I almost want to tilt back the lobster plates a tiny bit so it sits better on the head.

I'd recommend people to come up with a liner to fit desired Marines heads better for the right fit. Hicks' hair fits great as is without liner. Hudson you may want to have a liner to have the tilted helmet look.

I will probably paint them up tonight, one in the armour camouflage and one in the BDU camouflage for Hudson, who still has his head off haha. Monday I should have the first print of Retro's head ;)

I wish I could do better for pricing but as it sits now, MY price from Shapeways is about $8.50 USD for a set of 2, so I'm thinking around $10.00 for 2 for final price.

If there's interest I will open it up to public

*Edit* Painted :)

Finally made some progress on my next 2 marines. Frost is still very much a work in progress, but here is what i have so far.

A Windrix long sleeve base with some extra Hicks forearms I have.
Image

Leaves you with this when assembled (with some drilling and screws for support.
Image

A little sculpting with Liquid nails...(it shrinks as it dries, so you need to work bigger)
Image

and now I just need to paint to match the head (which KNOCK ON WOOD is coming today. I bought a figure with the head I want and I am just HOPING its the right scale.)
Image

Nick-a-Tron's Apone is probably the definitive Apone, so I am simply trying not to embarass myself here. Ignore the VP holster as I am not happy with it and will resculpt it. I do like the head I found for him though

Great job, bigbisont. Your Apone turned out great! The head you've found for him is great. Frost also looks good so far. The only thing I'm not sure about is Hicks Helmet. I love the rest. I hope they will release Drake and Vasquez someday. Dietrich would be very usefull too to complete the squads.

Thanks guys!

My Frost took a slight turn for the worst. Too small of a head. Thought I had a good likeness lined up, but when it arrived; too small. Damn you varying scales on McFarlane figures...

I think I'm going to try a daring face transplant onto a larger head. Let ya'll know how it goes!

I am really just messing around here to try and salvage this Frost head. My hopes were so low when I started that I actually already ordered a different figure to pull the head off. But now I think it miiiiiiight work out. I felt like a psycho in a Rob Zombie movie...but here is the FACE SURGERY!

Started with a McFarlane baseball figure.
Image

But turns out the head was too small. Plus the neck was contorted in a way that there wasn't much actual head beyond the face to work with. I did believe it was tall enough to be the right scale, but the doner was just too skinny.

Image

So after some surgury and a doner skull...

I think much improved.
Before..... And after.
Image

this was done with a sharp razor blade, a previously broken McFarlane Hicks head and a dremel tool. I forced the face to stretch around the wider foundation and epoxied it in place.
Image

Now to see if I can adequately blend and paint everything. I don't need it to be perfect as much of the ugly parts will be covered by the helmet. If it doesn't end up working out, then I do have the other figure/head on the way (and neither head/figure cost more than a beer at a nice resteraunt, so no huge loss).

Holy smokes I'm tired, I thought you were trying to make a Crowe head for the first few pictures and I was thinking "um, Terran... Tip didn't look like that..."! It wasn't until I saw the "Heath" on the chest that I realized I was off my rocker.
If the paint works out then yes indeed, I think you'll have a winner!

Ha, yeah that would be quite a stretch. Guess I'll see how the paint works before I get my hopes up, but it is quite possible I am near completion of the "easy ones". It will be on to Dietrich after this. I'll probably wait on the smart gunners until NECA makes one (which I think they HAVE to do. How could they not?!?) But I can't wait to see Techno Viking's planned smart gunners. Maybe his work will motivate me to try them.

That's great work on the Frost head, seriously, I think it looks like him enough as long as the face-graft works out.

Mr. and Mrs. Frost...the surgery was a success. You have a face. (as well as a flame thrower!)

I need to 'tone down' the helmet as its too bright. I still need to do his "Nuke em" sticker to cover the hole and I haven't decided if I want to fuss around with dump bag. But Frost is close to finished!

You seriously need to send some photos of the finished figure to Mr. Ross, I think he'd be really flattered!

Thanks guys. I have some base figures on the way and I will have a go at Dietrich next.

I also saw a custom on line that inspired me to give a "final Battle in Ops" look Vazquez a try.

Don't kick me, but didn't Frost have two blue-capped grenades on his webbing?

Ha, yes he did. Absent, but not forgotten! I have been too lazy/busy to get to the little details. I havent repainted the grenades yet. I also havn't done Crowe or Ski's grafitti (or Ski's grenade caps) either. Apone needs a non-hideous holster and they all need their names on the breastplates and back of their helmets. I will get to the little details soon enough.

Thanks!

But... just like that, my face transplant Frost is OUT. I tried out the replacement head I already had on order. It's a bit big and I'm not thrilled with the expression, but it just destroys my creation for realism. So this head is in! Face-transplant is out.

Image

Also working on Deitrich and "Ops Battle" Vaz.
Got these two heads picked out. Will probably face transplant Deitrich to widen her jaw up. Of course i need to get rid of the makeup on both heads.
Image

Here is just some random body parts if anyone was curious about the inner working. They come apart beautifully with just some hot water. Getting them back to together the way I want may require a lot of drills and epoxy though!

Who is your Dietrich donor? I remember you mentioning a certain sparkly vampire option, is that what I'm seeing here? It looks like a good match to me!

Yup. Neca's "Bella". She looks kinda mean already, so I think if I widen up that head/jaw a little, ditch the lip stick and slap a helmet on it, I may have a winner.

*FOR THE RECORD: I did not already own that figure! I got loose off ebay for this purpose.

Your Frost turned out amazing! Fantastic job and the head you've chosen is a really good match. Don't forget to close the hole in the shoulder section of the armor. Do you work with greenstuff? That would be the perfect material for that.

I'm really looking forward to see Dietrich.
