The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Well i for one would be interested in a set of screen used patches for my future marine.

If you need any help or funding for a run i would be more than happy to help.

It's strange where you remember things. For a little while now i've been wondering where to get screen printed patches. Then when i was having a soak in the tub i remembered that not only did i know someone who produces screen printed patches but that i had already used his services on a patch run i had done a year or so ago.

The only down side is that upon further inspection he does not offer the right shape for the rocker or SULACO patches

http://www.bdprints.com/production%20infomation.html

Here is a example of his work.

Now just as a general what if to gauge interest. Who would be interested in a screen printed scram eagle patch?

Nice - Is it me being daft or is that clone badge woven?

I like his site... He might be worth approaching about the SULACO / ROCKER patches... He might be able to accommodate it you never know... If we sent him the artwork and examples... There is specific detail to capture and stipulate on the overlocking on the badges as well...

A full set would include the deltas and the US flag...

Interesting...

I can always ask if he can do the custom shapes we need for the set.
If someone could possibly send me the artwork I will send it onwards for a quote and see if u can get a few samples made so that we can have a nose and see if they are up to spec. Also does anyone have the correct patch sizes. I swear I saw them in a thread but for the life of me i can't remember where I saw it.

Thank you for the sizes. That helps a great deal. I've sent a PM to Noble regarding the artwork.

Just as a side, I know Matt is really busy at the mo... He was making and shipping slings, grenade straps, hero pouches and Ab pads as well as pulse meter straps... He's just come out of prepping stuff for guys for D-Con... He's also in the middle of shipping masses of orders... So he may need some time to say the least...

It appears I am going to soon be in a position to try some printed patches as well. However they would not be screen printed, but rather "sublimation" printed.

I have a vinyl plotter coming for Christmas, and my Mom is also getting herself a heat press. After a lot of research throughout the night I have planned out how I will try to attempt this.

Instead of ordering patch blanks specially cut, which can be costly, I can buy 1 yard rolls of Poly-Twill fabric in just about any colour I want, run it through the vinyl plotter for precise, clean cuts to cut them to shape, then I can use the heat press with some laser transfer paper to apply the art to the twill. After this I can run the patches with artworks through the embroidery machines at work to do the overlock stitching to also help prevent the (unlikely) event of the art lifting. This process should give me crisp, vibrant and durable patches that look close to the screen used screen printed patches.

Here is a website that does sublimation printing, you can see the end result:

When I do some patches of my own designs I will post some pictures for people to see. Not sure when that will be but soon! We ordered the plotter and transfer paper last night :)

Cool stuff! I'd love it if you guys made some Sephora patches! I like the idea of having it with velcro as well, that way you could switch patches on your costume without having to buy multiple versions!

SubliPrint looks like a good option.

Well done again Melissa.

I got my cutter, it's assembled but I'm just learning how to use it. It's slow going cause the instructions are really bad English (from China) haha. Searching youtube yields few results, and they are all in Russian or something. Quite the international experience!

Should be getting the heat press and paper this week. I will keep everyone interested updated as I progress! :)

I got a reply from the company, I got it figured now . Turns out my Corel isn't the " Full version" but the guy from REDSAIL is going to hook me up with it in a few days.

My laser on the cutter doesn't seem to be working though so I may have to print the backgrounds in the artwork instead of contour cutting it to have the twill show through until I get my laser going.

Excited for the heat press and papers to come! Need to order my twill!

Hahaha, My family has actually strongly considered an All Terrain Wheelchair for me! That one is the Action TrackChair, Action is the brand I have now, but mine is just a regular powerchair haha... I am an Action girl! (like Chevy!) Bonus is they have bad ass names so they sound super cool. Mine is the Action Arrow - Storm Series, My second one in this line, and I love them!

Some more updates, We got the heat press machine today, and I ordered my twill last night. The rest of todays mail hasn't come yet but I imagine I will have a few more goodies too :) like the transfer paper

Haven't heard back from Redsail so I will email them a nice reminder. We have lots of action going on here today, my brother and his wife are in the process of delivering their first child so not sure wen I will get a chance to write Redsail back

I don't want to bug him if he's busy, but I will shoot him a message still. I'm gonna attempt the serger this weekend hopefully, gotta at least get a set of UACM ones done for myself in time for Calgary, and a set for Dom for the use of the artwork :)

Very well done.
I would like to see the USCM patches and a M56 smartgun operator patch like the patch with the PR.

Thanks for sharing.

After a few days of hell dealing with Mom's finicky, evil ancient serger we finally got it to do what we wanted! Turns out I can operate a machine fairly good!

For never operating a basic sewing machine before, I handled the serger pretty good! I only had to thread the bastard like 200 times! Gahh! hahaha

Tonight we finally got the tensions set right, turns out Don't listen to the manual! haha

I started with 10 printed UA flags, I ended up with 7 perfect flags!, the frst three were casualties of sewing machine war... Rest in pieces... literally!

Tomorrow I will tackle deltas! then swap out the white thread for black and do some Beavers!

Still waiting to hear from Matt about the USCM art
