Back from Glastonbury and back to work on the SMG...

'Quick and dirty' routing for the LED module (can you tell I'm in a rush now? ):

But the stock locking mechanism is working at least.



She's now been stripped and sealed; the butt plate has been fitted to the rails; and I've done some final fitting.
Tomorrow to sand, prime, and paint.
Cutting it fine...

She's sprayed. Looking nice!
The plastic has taken the paint really well and the steel rails look superb (if you like black painted metal). The 'flat black' has given them a nice, satin, "coated" look.

My only regret is that I didn't have chance to get the right brown for a two-tone colour scheme.
This one is a bit 'Alien 3'.

I reckon the next one will be sheet steel, aluminium, and GRP. I'll paint that one two-tone.

The upper looks kind of greenish in these, it's not. I just had to fiddle with the brightness and contrast to get the detail to show.




Tomorrow...some dry brushing, final touches, and the sling.

Oh, and some sort of bright coloured tip.

She's all done!

This was my first attempt at dry brushing and I'm pretty happy. Just a little wear. I didn't want to go crazy because I think it's easy to over do it. In fact, I think the photo makes it look heavier than it is.

I gave the exposed metal parts a black wash to give them a little more parkerized look.
Pity about the damage to the upper. Particularly around the ejection opening. Never mind.




I'm itching to make another in brown bess!

Now, off to paint 50% of it in a bright colour.
