The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Am I reading his seller information wrong? it says he has 100% positive customer feedback... which seems odd. how do you go about getting those kinds of feedback when the people you are trying to sell to ( honestly, I don't think a random Joe Public is going to buy a $50 PR sling, so its us who are buying it) all hate you?

Face it- there's a lot more people with airsoft pulse rifles than their are fully costumed Colonial Marines.

You've dropped £200 on a Snow Wolf/Matrix M41 and scouting e-bay you come up with a 'SCREEN ACCURATE PULSE RIFLE SLING!!!" for £40....A decent 3-point airsoft sling will come in at £20-30 so it's only a bit more, eh- and it looks about right. It arrives in one piece in good time: Instant positive feedback :(

The fact that it's a £8 GP carrying strap you'll find BOXES of at any militaria show is not known to the buyer.

Sad but true.....

And if you really want to see amazing gouging and carefully wooly worded adverts on Ebay, take a look in the Vietnam War section of Collectables:
~Washed out 1980s £5 US Woodland shirts passed off as £50+ 1960s original ERDLs
~Reproduction stuff of all types being passed off as originals
~1980s ALICE nylon pouches labelled as Vietnam war originals
~And everything and anything even vaguely period being hyped up as "Special Forces LRRPs MACVSOG issue!"
*sigh*

Basically- Taketh thine longest barge-pole and caveat emptor ;)

A good question! You see the same thing with Golden Armor. Its not like he rep over on the rpf is much better.
But the rpf and even 1/6th/collectibles sites I frequent are littered with Aliens fans who love to make and buy aliens stuff, but for some reason are not members here. I can only assume he gets the most action from the 'casual fan'. The ones that know they 'like' it, but for whatever reason don't 'love' it enough to put in the time/effort to be fully informed. Its a shame.

Any chance you could direct them this way? New members are always welcome and I'd love to see more 1/6th aliens stuff :D

The problem is, the people who know don't buy from him, so can't leave negative feedback.

The people who do think they're getting it for a decent price, are satisfied, so leave positive.

As someone said earlier in the thread, his stuff doesn't quite break the ebay rules you can report him for.

If he has 100% positive and gets one negative feedback it wouldn't affect his number enough to make me (as a potential buyer) steer clear. If someone has 99% positive I honestly don't bother to check their feedback. Plus he gets $50 and laughs the whole time.

What if someone started selling the exact same canteen straps etc. using his exact wording for the listing title, but at rockbottom prices and with clear documentation of why it isn't screen accurate and where one can go to find out more info. I don't think you can link to a non-ebay sale in the description (for obvious reasons), but a link to here should be fine. It would be a kind of public service announcement.

I'll try my best! I've not been real vocal over on those places as I'm still pretty much a 'noob' and trying to build a little street cred, but I will certainly do my best to recruit the good ones soon enough!

I thought of something similar where I thought "What if I sell the same item, but at $1 cheaper (so that the items appear next to each other when people "sort by price") and use the same style of title and such, but list the cold hard truth in the item description. But that could backfire on me if anyone actually bought something I posted. I imagine trying to explain I was only tyring to make a point wouldnt go over too well and could adversely effect my own feedback.

But hell, if anyone did have the items for sale who could 'risk' selling one for way too much 8) maybe they wanted to take a crack at it.

If you look at his feedback, the sales that you can see are mainly for DVDs and other cheap stuff. I doubt anyone has bought any of his outrageous stuff.

It's more of a warning though, Mantroon. Telling people to watch out for him and letting them KNOW he's an ass-hat :)

I like the idea of selling the same stuff for rock-bottom so sort-by-price can see how sh*t he is
