The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Exactly!

I've torn three vintage calculators (and a few modern ones) apart looking for a match but no luck. I think I need to source the pins and then add them to a calculator screen.

3D printing is an interesting option!

As a basis for the hack pouch, have you tried to search in e-Bay for "Olive drab canvas tri-fold wallet"? You will find some interesting options under that search that, at least to my liking, look quite screen accurate.

The ones I found look too small, more like a money wallet to go in a trouser pocket, rather than havk pouch sized.

This looks a better size:

Edit: Found the size of it on Amazon: (L x W x D): 10-1/2" x 7-1/2" x 1-1/2"

Wow! Looks cool, Steve!

I'll wait and see what's the real size of the pouch I've just ordered, and if it's really that small (most likely), then I'll keep it as a cool wallet (I currently need one, and this one is very USCM-esque, so, no problem), and will probably give a try to the tools pouch you're talking about, which looks really good (that's the real delight of this fórum: You always find someone creative with an even better idea or suggestion).

As far as I remember from my childhood, there were also some vintage tri fold pouches which were used to preserve the cars' and trucks manuals, and they might be closer to the correct size, though I doubt you'd be able to finf them in olive drab colour...

Bravo! Would you be willing to cast those Pulsemeter sensors Matt? Also, what are the thin rods above the wrenches?

I believe the rods come with the socket wrenches.

See the hole in the body.

I could do the probes when I do an accurate keypad.

My hack pouch is nearly done at last!

Here's the outside:

And the inside:

Many thanks to Stapleton13 for the PulseMeter sensors! I just need a screen and a cover for the buttons. Here's a video of the audio FX:

Thanks mate!
I'm still fine tuning it, and I have the option of adding a few more sounds with the other buttons. I definitely want some sort of "access denied" sound effect (either a recorded voice or just a rude buzzer sound) so that the bypass can take a few tries during colony sweeps. As a laugh I also thought of putting the self destruct announcement from the Nostromo on there as though a crossed wire could lead to some real mayhem.

Speaking of crossed wires, I now see that a few of mine in the photo above are loose. I'll need to glue them back down!

For anyone interested, the "APC" designation is a reference to the Sulaco locker plates. No one knows what APC stands for in this context (doubtful it's a reference to the Armoured Personnel Carrier), but I made up my own number for Marines serving on the USS Conrad and stenciled it on my armour as well.

Anyway, it's getting there...

The sound is of a door in Hadley's Hope opening. It seemed appropriate! How's your kit coming along man?

Ahhh, I didn't catch the part where your sounds were programmable.

My hack pouch? Mine's been done for years but I'm not too fond of it and it bears only a passing resembalance to the film used version.

Grrr, I didn't realize how cruddy this photo was until I'd uploaded it. Sorry folks.

Anyway, here's how things are coming together! The PulseMeter clips are in place and a screen has been added. Quarax gave me the idea to check the calculator used on the Motion Tracker. While it isn't a match (darn it), it does provide a certain amount of continuity and makes a better substitute than anything else I can source.

I also made a cover for the input pad. The original had rectangular buttons, but I went with round because I noticed a section of an old TV remote was the perfect size!

I just cut the top of the remote and the rubber layer down to size and painted the front white. This allows the buttons to still activate the sounds I've uploaded.

Oh well. :(

I'll let you know if the SL-85's screen is a match.

Thanks Quarax. No worries though, I like how mine actually looks functional instead of just strapped on.

Retro, what did you use for your sound board, and how long can the sound bites be?

Hmm, I'll have to check! I got it on eBay intending to use it in my Motion Tracker, but it works much better here.
