The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Awww it's a multiplayer only demo, I hate those. With a demo I just want to get the feel of it.

Pretty damn cool though, mulitplayer will be fun when I know more about the game.

Great.

So all I see is 'searching for games'. Not exactly the rollercoaster ride I expected. :(

Harry & everyone else it does give you the option to invite friends & make your own game. Hence why I put my STEAM name.

So maybe we should draft up a STEAM player ID list & have a fun evening AL style on AvP :D
For puter/xbox etc.

Just off to work now, but had my ass kicked by Coredeath's immense Xbox skills earlier! Great game!
I think Coredeath won a lot of the Deathmatches (8 players). :delta:

Marines all looked good, great sounds, environments and the Aliens are true to Cameron's movie. Great stuff.
Word of warning though, if like me you're not a gamer then you'll find it blazingly fast and quite hard to play.
Getting the game when it comes out due to some luvvvverly Xmas vouchers and then I'll be honing my skills in the coming months so hopefully I'll improve with age -- like Harry!

Actually that reminds me -- when you 'select species' the picture of the marine does indeed bear a striking resemblance to our very own Hazza, in armour. Take a gander!

On the strength of this demo I was well impressed, but as I said I'm no expert with this stuff so it'll be interesting to hear what the AL gamers make of AVP.

Finally gave the marine a go, after trying the Predator and the Alien at the previous Sega event. Great stuff, very intense with the motion tracker beeping and not being able to see. Shame it was a free-for-all deathmatch, as the other Marine players would shoot me, too.

I was winning (double Pred kill), but got pipped at the post by the timer.

Played very well. shame it's only a deathmatch demo, as the survivor and pred hunt gametypes would have been great to try.

Only had a quick couple of goes as an Alien, I'm pretty useless too, but it was fun.

Can I ask how/where you 'select species'? (xbox360)

Must of missed that, thought I was automatically been chosen as an Alien.

Edit: Just gone on there now and I still can't find anywhere that lets me choose what species I want to be. :?
I know I'm probably being really stupid, but can anyone help?

I cannot find the choice on the puter version either, so help.

ADC, Martin I`m with you guys, not really a gamer so found myself out of the water real quick. I tend to play Ghost Recon, L4D (I&II) & (clone GR) Op Flashpoint dragon rising. AvP is certainly a different kettle of fish to these i play LOL

Think I will seriously be playing one player to get practice & used to it all when it comes out.

Very frustrating multiplayer. Hopefully gets more fun in the full game.

A lot of cheap kills. I am shooting my pulse rifle into an alien and it has time to run up to me and give me a claw swipe. Which stuns you so your guy stops firing. Gives the Alien all the time it needs to kill you.

Also got a lot of one hit deaths from behind and because it doesn't have a kill/death cam I have no idea how I was killed.

The demo is eh. Picked up the smartgun, it was firing and tracking a alien form across the room, he had enough time to just run straight through it and slash me twice.

Ill proably just rent the game for the campaign and go back to MW2 after.

Gave it a quick go this morning and it was alright. Personally I don't think it's anything special even on a decent PC but then it's a beta demo so well see how the finished game comes out.

Didn't have a problem as a marine against the guys playing the aliens as it was 50/50 dependent on the situation so from limited play it seems quite balanced there. I cant say I'm bothered by the lack of a kill-cam either as that's just a gimmick in my eyes to aid less able players with little situation awareness and ability

Well see how the retail game shapes up but this hasn't grabbed me as a 'must have' game :?

I downloaded both PC and PS3 versions...and this was all a friend and I got also..on both platforms. I managed to get ONE game in on PS3 last night..but then back to the "searching for games" after the match was over.

I'm guessing not many have picked up the demo yet, as I just tried on 360 and there was only one game running.

Joined and couldn't choose anything but Predator, but was told by the other players that the game only allows a few of each type, so only Preds were left. I have no idea how you would change from one to the other if you could though, unless the control shows onscreen when you can?

Managed one kill in the game, with the top player getting 8. :)

Aliens got the most kills. They seemed to take a Hell of a beating before going down (as others here have said), so hopefully that'll be adjusted for the full game.

It`s just frantic from the few goes I`ve had, though I am the novice to the AVP games LOL
Have to say a group of marines vs Preds vs bugs would have been sweet.

Jon thank`s for the link, I think it did sum it up. Still awaiting the game & then try 7 get some practice on it & get better at it HAHAHA

Concerning the PC match-making problems, Rebellion says this:

Quote:
We've identified an issue with the matchmaking system that is causing the very long wait times to get into a PC game, and hope to release an update shortly which addresses this.

In the meantime players can ease connection issues by getting together with a group of players before entering matchmaking. Inviting friends or joining players via the Steam overlay will help work around the issue. If you need help finding players you can join one of the community groups, e.g. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/AVPI.

In addition to the matchmaking functionality the full game features dedicated servers, server browsers, and the ability to host games directly.
