The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey I like the thought of Joe Q Public using his fake pistol as a "self defence" just makes it that much more of a surprise to the "Bad Guy" when the 1911a1 I carry everyday turns out to spit actual lead at them.

I really think that any Bone head that pulls a fake weapon no matter what type on anyone deserve to get shot, call it natural selection , clearing the gene pool, thinning the herd. We don't need thoose types of idiots around.

Damn law makers need to focus on the real problems.

I find it humerous that someone should have the need to carry around a semi automatic pistol 'every day' in the first place

Oh dear.... don't go upsetting the American's and their right to carry a gun. ;)

Applications for every day carry licences are on the increase so it's probably a lot safer to have a gun and not need it than it is to need it and not have one.

Good idea, Vicky. That's along the same quote I read from a book Bravo Two Zero, written by a S.A.S. soldier during the 1991 campaign into Iraq, "It's better to have then need not than need and have not". That's why I've had a Remington 870 12 ga in both vehicles (not allowed to carry in Canada) since the summer of 1985 (when I came back from a NATO tour in Germany) but have never had to use them. Kinda like the jack & spare tire  Have you ever seen what the penetration of a 1 oz (437.5 gr) slug at 1600 fps does? It's very impressive.

Wow. No offense intended here, but as a Police Officer myself, I daresay I find that in poor taste.

Bravo Two Zero is one of my favourite books! If you liked that you should pick up Immediate Action - it's all about McNab's life in the army and the SAS - an excellent read!

I'm not sure if CCW permits are the way forward but I can see why people want them. And I think it's more than likely if they were available in this country then I'd probably apply for one as well - gotta protect the family. ;)

That pic's been floating around the net for years - I expect it wasn't directed at Police Officers with any particular malice - just tongue-in-cheek lolz. :)

So, you're allowed weapons in your car? What happens when you park-up to go to the shops? What if someone stole your car? I'd rather people carried (even shot guns!) then at least they might not get stolen!

For home protection, a semi-automatic CO2 'air' pistol is a nice alternative in the UK... Unfortunately we bent over for the 'authorities' years ago and gave up our right to defend ourselves and our property, so carry never mind concealed carry is right out.

EDIT - Hell, pointing a weapon at, never mind shooting at or heaven forbid actually shooting someone someone who enters your home illegally, is likely to wind up with you being sued, jailed and publicly branded a lunatic in this sad little country.

Agreed Derek.

Remington 870 shotguns aren't weapons. They are sporting firearms. Only the police & military have weapons. Yes in Canada, we are allowed to carry sporting firearms in our cars.

Lock the car & turn on the alarm like I've always done for the past 23+ years.

Call the cops. Tell them my car is stolen. Also tell them my Remington 870, which is in the trunk, in a case and trigger locked is missing, too. Oh yes, give them the serial number.

Wish I was allowed to carry concealed, cause I would carry a Walther P99 in .40 S&W or some kewl .45 ACP. I would still carry a shotgun in the truck because pistols aren't very effective on bears and are terrible at putting road side injured large wild life down.

I carry concealed daily; either my issue weapon which is a Glock 22 in .40, or when I'm out in shorts and a t-shirt I usually have a 5-shot Taurus .38, which is a great little handgun.

Glock is a fine hand gun. I miss my Glock 23 (small frame 40). My ex brought up my guns in the divorce. Like having visitations with my daughter better then the guns. Glock 23 and AR 15 went Bye Bye.

Tell me about it!

I was a World War II re-enactor for 20 years (US 1st Infantry Division), and we got hit hard after Hungerford with the blanket-ban of semi-autos.

We have to hire weapons for events, which of course makes safety a bit of an issue, as before you had your own weapon so could field-strip it and get to know it inside and out. Now, you're lucky to get half hour with it before you're shooting the thing in the field - ok for old hands like me, but not the new generation!!

Then of course at events you get members of the Police Firearms Unit telling you that you have to walk around with your BAR COCKED to show it's "safe"!!

What we need is for some cheap two-tone manufacturer like double-eagle to make a 80 quid PR replica.

You can buy realistic Airsofts withought signing to UKARA in UK if they are two tone (Thats 50% bright colour its illegal to paint them though) maybe we can find one of these cheapy companies and lobby them to produce a copy, i'm sure they would get their money back after initial production.

I wouldnt mind a cheap springer version, i have an m4/ xm8 and glock springers all green colour and they work well and are actually quite smart. A Pulse Rifle type version would be cool.

Has there been any progress on this stuff recently?

Can UK peeps obtain Resin/Airsoft PRs under the stipulation of being Theatrical groups?

Found it much easier to gain membership to my local airsoft skirmish site than trying to navigate the laws to be recognised as a theatre group.

I believe Mantroon did try asking the home office where a group like the UKCM would stand on this. We don't get classed as re-enactors as we aren't recreating a historical event, and we don't get classed as theatre, as there is no script or planned performance.

OK, so what do you do about Drops?

I've just been looking at the weapon regulations at some of the recent costume events and they state that no RIFs are to be carried, waved, brandished or even present, unless painted horrendously bright colours and kept bolted to your person at all times (except for photos).

What do peeps do, just sling PRs and amble about?

When at drops, we are usually there at the invite of the event organisers, who know us and trust us to handle our replicas in a responsible manner.

The same can not be said for a minority of the general public who have cosplayed at events, waving around various replica weapons (both bladed and firearms). Hence many organisers have placed restrictions on replicas.

Going to and from event locations, all our replicas are transported in cases (often locked), so as not to scare the general public.

this thread truely makes me sad. i spend a great deal studying the issue of gun control in America and it aches me to see where politicians are taking us. it's clearly shown in modern statistics and throughout history that gun control only make crime worse and more often than not leads to tyrrany. no one should be deprived of the right to defend themselves, let alone access to harmless replicas. wtf..

keep up the fight guys. this isn't over yet.

Not to get too political, but I agree.

I've been out shooting and am purchasing a firearm myself while they are still available.
I've been borrowing a friends up until now.

Better to have one and not need it, than need it and not have one.

It's time to get political, bro. History doesn't have to repeat itself. It's starting to look like the whole world's heading down that National-Socialist road, and we know where that road goes. The time is now to speak up and tell our leaders that WE are in charge, not the other way around. Don't give up the fight.

By stating not getting political we are refering to the board here.
It is time to get political outside the board, but we have too many folks here from all over the globe.
We try to keep discussion here to things we enjoy and use to escape the nuthouse most refer to as the real world.

Sit down have a beer and get set for the next drop.
