The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to get my first post out of the way. I met some of you at Dragon Con in Atlanta this past summer and you were all very, very cool so I'm hoping I run into some of the very same people I'm talking about on here (and hopefully again at Dragon Con this coming year).

My name is Adam and I'm from Bethlehem, Pa. I'm actually a doctor of internal medicine and half of my time is spent running around hospital wards like a maniac. The other half of my time is spent studying (a little) and fulfilling my movie-related fantasies.

I'll be honest, I'm a HUGE Ghostbusters fan, and that has been my focus the past 15 years exclusively. I've got plenty of GB props and I'm even restoring a 1959 Cadillac Miller Meteor into a truly accurate replica of Ecto-1. That project has been so insanely expensive, exhausting, and time consuming, and that is why I never got around to pursuing my second fantasy: completing a colonial marine getup. Well, now it's time to embark on that journey.

I've been obsessed with Aliens since I was 10 years old...and my second favorite movie prop of all time (behind the proton pack) is the smart gun (obviously). I just bought an all-metal airsoft MG-42 and am on a quest to build as accurate of a replica as possible. I am also trying to hunt down the accurate steadicam harness. I will get a build thread together once I get some additional stuff in the mail. I know it's been done before so it's probably not that interesting to those of you who have been on this forum for a while, but it's a big deal to me because I've been dreaming about getting involved with this community for so long - now that the process is starting I'm super excited that I have a reason to be here. I thought it was awesome that the USCM Dragon Con table was literally right next to our Ghostbusters table...I spent most of my time when I was at our table drooling over the USCM stuff.

Ok, sorry for boring you all with that. Take care!

- Adam

Stay awhile and listen...

Hello all! Longtime lurker, finally decided to register...why? Finished up some Spat armor, and have begun my costuming adventures as a Colonial Marine. Still modifying it a bit, since I've dropped about 15lbs since the start, but the biggest change was 6" in change from the waist and 4" from the chest. Oy! [first world problems, I know...weight loss!]

Image

That's me! Didn't get to finish my Pulse Rifle before Comicon, but I'm also a costumer with the various Star Wars groups (501st Legion, Rebel Legion, etc.) and used one of our resin MG-42 props for the day. Seemed like a great choice for the con, and had a lot of recognition from people in attendance. Even had one Xenomorph to chase around.

These forums are great, and the atmosphere of inspiration is pleasant to see among the fans.

I'll be seeing the group at DragonCon, and some of you at C2E2 in Chicago as well. Look forward to the fight!

Get on the ready line!

Done a bit of posting already in other threads but haven't formally introduced myself. Hey all, name is Craig (in case the screen name didn't give it away) and I think it is probably pretty apparent as to why I'm here. Looking forward to becoming part of what seems like an awesome community.

Cheers!

Hey Eric, welcome to the club. I sure hope 43 ain't old cuz I'm 35 and a fan since I was ten if not younger. I dig the car scene as we'll with my 1971 Camaro SS. My twin, three year old girls keep me busy so I fit my costumes n cars where I can.

Welcome Neil! At 44 you must have been at the right age to have seen Aliens in the theater! I'm 37 so I missed Aliens but saw Alien3. Not a fair trade!
