The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I just realized I never filled out one of these things. My name is Christian and I live in L.A. While putting myself through flight school, I was a propmaster for a little company called Icons. They made Sci-Fi prop replicas. I was one of the first in and one of the first to leave as I got a job flying Lears here in LA. Slowly starting collecting/building replica props. My first set of USCM armor in 2003 was a vacuformed set out of Florida. When It was finished I realized it was sized for a female and thus to small. Got a fair price for it to a diehard fan. Years later I found a second hand kit from MAA on Ebay. Many hours and blood later it is 99% done. (like its ever finished) My primary PR is mostly screen used components except for the airsoft Thompson. I am building a static model from the leftover MIM kit that came out in 2005.

This is by far the best forum I have had the pleasure in being a member of. The generosity and brotherhood is second to none. It is contagious. My plans for Dcon 2008 were derailed by being laid off but look forward to 2009. I put this out to anyone: If you ever need anything Aliens related, feel free to PM me. I spend a lot of time in hotel room around the world with nothing but time on my hands. Also I travel to Asia frequently so if there is a Japanese exclusive that you want (and its not to big) I can bring it back to the states personally.

Thanks and enjoy the show,
Christian

OK, been lurking long enough and just ordered a Spat combo. So, here we go.
I'm Rob D. Known as MacFett on some of the other boards where I've seen some of the same names I see here. IE. TDH, COW, Whiskey Outpost, 501st...etc.
I fly dropships (helicopters) for a living and enjoy most things Sci-Fi.
Married with 3 kids (one of which is a 15 year old who is going to Sh*% when he finds out I ordered a CM kit).
Anyway, looking forward to meeting all of you.
Let the maddness (spending) begin.

Welcome to the board, there's a wealth of information to be had just by browsing older posts (we have much more than just one page!) and going through the archives.

I really should've posted here first, but Sod's Law I done it all on my first post somewhere else.
Anyway, I'm Paul MacLeod from Falkirk in Scotland, home of the worst football team in Scotland, East Stirlingshire FC who've finished bottom in the bottom division for the last 8 years, but looking good this year! :D
I'm a regular at my local Airsoft skirmish site, though haven't been for a while due to a couple of cracked ribs I sustained whilst playing five-a-side football. Never did think Airsoft would be so appealing to me but once I started I got the bug.
Which brings me here. I have a TM M1A1 Thompson, modified the internals for more reliability, and now I'd like to build my own PR, with a little help from the experts, you guys, and a bit of luck it's only a mater of time.
I have the skills and the technology we can rebuild it, again! 8)

Hi all,

I've been a huge fan of Aliens for 20 years, since the first time I saw it on the CBS broadcast when I was 9. They aired the 'extended' version and spent years trying to find it.

I bought a laserdisc player in the 90's and the Aliens spec. ed. laserdisc so I could finally have the extended version. Back when I was a teenager and should have been doing teenager-things, I was saving money and getting Aliens on laserdisc :)

I've always wanted a full colonial marine outfit but now I am able to afford it, so I've been lurking the forums for a while... until now!

Hey Everyone,

Just joined this site tonight & wanted to say "Hi" to everyone. I've been reading the various topics on this board for awhile and decided to finally join, especially since I finally decided to "pull the trigger" and get my armor. I got to say, from what I've seen this site is impressive with alot of great info & a really cool, fun bunch.

As for me, well....I'm a nerd at heart who works a really boring job. I've been married for five years to a wonderful, lovely wife who is supportive of my hobbies (such as costuming or playing WH 40K). I travel a bit due to work between Bakersfield, CA and Tempe, AZ but hopefully that will be done with within the next year.

Oh yeah, I'm also a huge ALIENS fan. :)

Well, thats it for now. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to meet a few of you some time. At the latest, maybe at San Diego Comic Con this year?

Take care!
-Dave

Johnnie Oddball, founder of the world renowned 24 hour and 48 hour film challenges,

I entered the film industry as a lighting technician and gained experience and contacts by working my way up. i created the 48 hour film challenge in London in 2000. He then went on to create one of the biggest filmmaking events in British history in 2003 with my National 48 hour film challenge – set in London, Bristol, Manchester and Scotland – where over 10,000 people participated and 488 short films were made. In 2004 he produced another four filmmaking events around Europe which included London, Berlin, Paris and Bulgaria, and the first 24 hour film challenge at The Cannes Film Festival in 2005. i also have two feature films to my credits. on IMDB
Currently, im co Producing/Director a horror film with Chris knowles called ‘highwaymen" .hopefully to be made in 2009
In 2003, i Wrote, Produced and co directed my 1st major feature ‘The Dark Hunter’ – a Spinal Tap meets Blair Witch style comedy horror about two wannabe filmmakers lost in making a bad horror film. He sold this to an American distributor and it received a West End debut at the Curzon Cinema and its now available on play.com and Amazon

This became a groundbreaking success for guerrilla filmmakers as it was a 90 minute full length feature film shot in just 12 days on DV with a £2000 budget and a small crew of just 30 people, some of which were members of the winning team from the first 48 hour film challenge in London is 2002.

I currently helping out p/time as Creative Events coordinator for the Movieum of london and have been working on a few TV pilot for SKY

Been into Alien for about 20 years and the Art of Alien ,
I am also a p/time American WW2 Re-enactor

Hey everybody! My name is Smitty and I have been into costuming going on my second year. DragonCon 2008 was my first Con ever and I am now addicted. Im a member of the 501st as a stormtrooper and now I have my sights set on a new costume, a bad-booty USCM. Dunno what it is about me, but i love the cannon fodder character costumes. Maybe it was the 8 years I did in the navy as a dirty blue shirt.

Here's a few pics of my previous projects:

A pic of me and my modded MG32 (DLT-19) built from scratch
Image
2 E-11 Stormtrooper blasters that I built from scratch

Image
and finally a pic of me and 2 friends at a trooping event (I'm in the middle)
Image

Hopefully the experience I got building my Stormtrooper costume will lend itself to building a killer Colonial Marine Costume! See ya'll on the battlefield.
