The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi everyone!
My name is Miranda and I am from Alaska. I recently purchased an alien chest burster prop that I am planning to use for halloween. My boyfriend gave me the genius idea to dress up as an USCM with the alien bursting out of my chest.
Since I am into costuming a lot I want to make this as accurate as possible of course! Some friends at therpf.com send me over here to help me find the items I am looking for, mainly the correct camo flight suit or pants.

I hope you guys can help a lady out!

My other costumes are:
Snow trooper
Imperial Tie pilot
Captain Rex clone wars
Stormtrooper in the box but coming soon!

I am definitely looking forward to start a new and non Star Wars costume lol.

Hey there, Miranda! Now there's a familiar name. You might recognize me by my TKID# TB-1019 from CT.net or Clone Empire. Welcome to the AL. :)

Hi all. I'm Daniel and 21 years old.

I'm a big gun nut and recently decided I wanted something "different". Then I thought about making a pulse rifle would be cool (live fire one). So after doing a bit of research and searching around to see if anyone's actually made one (haven't found any..) I came across this board and some others. Learned about Dragon Con and USCM colony sweeps. And to make things short. This looks like fun. :D Although I've lost a bit of interest in making a live fire pulse rifle now due to the expense of it, and because if I want to Dragon Con I couldn't bring it.

So I have a few questions. Where do I start? Are you guys divided up regionally or anything?

For a non-firing pulse rifle that still has working actions (pump action works, and the bolt can be racked back on the thompson, and moving trigger of course) does anyone have any recommendations there? The more metal the better in my book.

I found this one to convert a TM M1A1 which sounds doable enough, but I have no idea what the "Japan" version is and how it varies from any other: http://www.monstersinmotion.com/catalog ... ts_id=8721

Then I found this one made by G&P: http://store.matrixbb.com/servlet/-strs ... ion/Detail

Anyone know anything about either of those? The sellers?

Any tips on where to get BDU's, armor, motion trackers, etc?

Thanks,
MWNF

For Armor
Spatcave.

BDU the most accurate is MAA over at scifimilitary.com.
Spat has alot of the other bits also.

Welcome Marine!

Divided regionally... yes and no. We're not as strict as say a Star Wars costuming club (or Stargate or Star Trek). Some people work on costumes together (the fine Marines of Maryland spring to mind) and if I hear of anything local my fellow Floridians are first on my contact list. But yeah, we don't care if you're Missouri-an, American, Canadian, British, etc (except French, they're right out  ) we'll help you out and if we happen to be at a con together we will hang with you.

Are you going to Dragon*con this year?

Unfortunately, no. :( I just returned from Scotland so I can't afford another trip quite yet, and I found out about it too late to really prepare for it anyway.

That's a shame.

I guess this year you'll have to make due with the tens of thousands of pictures that will be posted here early next week. (Or possibly throughout the weekend, depending on how cool some people are)

Oh, and welcome aboard. 8)

For flightsuit, like the Dropship pilots wear, look here for info:

http://forum.alienslegacy.com/viewtopic.php?t=4397

For the BDUs, the most accurate at the moment is what's known as 3Pat, available from Men-At-Arms here:

http://www.scifimilitary.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1456
http://www.scifimilitary.com/forum/view ... 21&start=0

However, we're not fiercely 'canon' on here, so if you just want to opt for a regular (and cheap) camo BDU/flightsuit, we won't stop you. :)

Those two PR kits are one and the same. :)

Either the Tokyo Marui or the cheaper Chinese clone Thompson will fit that kit.

BDUs: See my links above. :)

Armour = Spat Cave: http://www.spatcave.com/spatstore2.htm
He also does a very nice resin Pulse Rifle. :)

Motion Tracker: Not so easy. You could either grab one you find rarely on auction sites, or build your own. There's lots of info on building one on these forums, so look around. :)

Thanks.

Does anyone know of any other places to get those pulse rifle kits though? Those two links I found are the only places that still sell them that I'm aware of so far. the matrixbb/Evike one apparently doesn't have that great of a reputation, but it's a hundred dollars cheaper then over at monsters in motion. :\

The kit is produced infrequently and (if you believe the reports) the next batch to be made will be the last.

You might do better getting a resin Spulse or building a resin/plastic/metal one yourself from various sources.

I highly recommend a Spulse. It's good for beginners and it looks really nice.

Oh and since you're new... the "shroud" of a pulse rifle is Brown Bess. Just covering all bases.

Aye. Brown Bess I know, but I don't think I'd be able to bring myself to have it as brown bess. Since on the screen I saw it as OD, and I'd probably have that nagging feeling of something being "off" if I went with a brown bess color.

Hello everybody, I'm Kearney. I'm a huge Aliens fan, since I saw the movies when I was 5 (I know, its messed up). I've always wanted to do some kind of Aliens costuming, and after I saw and talked with some of you guys at Dragon Con this year, I decided to join up. My ultimate goal is to become your next bug, if I can get my hands on the kit to do it.

Hi Aire. Welcome to AL!

You've come to the right place. You thinking of scratch building a costume or buying a kit? Have a look at THIS THREAD for some info about the kit that me and others used to make our suits.

If you have any questions, get in touch with me or the rest of the hive!
