The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

E, thanks for confirming what I said earlier in this thread - Heels and painted.

Do think they are some type of white Hi-Top though.
For some time around then I know there were Bumper/Baseball boots around that were chunkier with grips and heels.

Had a pair in black that I think me mom bought me for Chrimbo or Birthday, I remember I didn't like them because they hadn't got the flat soles.

They are some sort of hi-top with no re-enforcing at the top like newer ones have.

I'm guessing what ever they are they where purchased in the UK.

I'm no expert on shoes since the only hi-tops I have ever owned where Reeboks and Hi-Tech Magnums.

Check these out.
No leather in top but tan knobby soles.

Looking though these pictures of different shoe's the Chucks are the ones that have the red & blue stripes on the sides.

Accept for the soles, wrestler shoes may be another option to look into.

These were the ones I found:

Not the same sole pattern and no heel.

I opted for these $39. The uppers are a closer match.

Here's a pic of Parker and Brett outside the infirmary.

Image

On a completely off topic subject (main reason I posted this pic), anyone have better pix of Parker's Magazine?

Thought at first it said ASIA but realized there are 5 letters something like IRSIA (?), can't make out the first 2.

Wanna try a mock up if I can get better pix.
My screen caps aren't any better than this one.

All the mags and papers in the lounge off the galley are Japanese nicely blending in with Ridley's saying Blade Runner is a prehistory of the same Universe.

So in the future, space-workers lounge around the corridors of their ships, reading soft-core porn mags from centuries ago? :?

That'd be a nice "pocket-filler" for someone's Parker costume at some con... 8)

It'd be an interesting obscure prop but the price is a bit steep for an old skin mag that's not screen use.

Perhaps an more updated (future) version can be made.
I did some covers for Nymph Magazine as well as a Caprican Life from the new BSG.

Was also working on other issues of Blade Runner Mags.
Did up a Kill Mag cover for a personal project.

Did I mention before how much I liked ALIEN? 8)

Funny enough... the skin-mag centerfolds carry over to Aliens.

There are a few pin ups in the lounge where Ash tries to force the magazine down Riley's throat.
Mainly Asian girls probably from all the Japanese mags laying around.
Japanese or Chinese news papers
Also pix of food, assorted cartoons (possible some of Ron Cobb's stuff) lot of other obscure stuff.

Lot's of toys around the ship including on the bridge.

I actually only registered Parkers mag while I was doing screen caps the other day.

The magazine arrived earlier today. :)

Now that I've had a good hard read of it , here's a big pic (4.5MB) of the front cover (NSFW!):

Definitely one of the better SA props to own.

Thanks for the scan.
The top is really hard to read though.

I did up a rough cover for the text the other day in PS.
Using credits instead of all the different currencies would be easier.

I noticed on the site that only the 70's had fully exposed breasts on most of the covers.

My jacket is in the works... here's a quick test fit of the excellent lacing panels by SG-RB!

Jacket will need another dose of dye before attaching these.

Tell you what, those PF Flyers are not easy to find in the UK, in the right colour and shape, in a UK size 10-11! :)

Bumping this old thread. :)

So I'm about to have a go at this uniform myself (might very well be the last SA uniform I do from the entire series.)

Attachment:
Nostromo Capt 002.JPG
Nostromo Capt 002.JPG [ 132.54 KiB | Viewed 10340 times ]

The shirt will have to be altered to add the shoulder epaulettes, and shorten the sleeves. However the remains of the sleeves should provide the extra material I need for the epaulettes, and the details above the pockets. One lucky break was finding a double breast pocketed shirt that has no buttons on the pocket flaps!

I also plan on removing the buttons and adding snaps to the front seam. Oh and I am going to add the pink trim on the pockets and collar (I've gotten over the fact that the trim is pink   ).

So my first big question...

Where the hell do you get those little white D-rings for the shoes? I've tried a craft store, sewing supplies store, and hardware store. So far zippo! :?

Kevin

Nice one, Kevin. Funnily enough I've recently been looking at doing a Lambert costume. :) And sorry I can't help with the shoe question... Lambert wears cowboy boots. ;)
