The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

No worries, it does, if you ordered "USCM Marine Armor Costume" (with or without helmet) at this page:
www.spatcave.com/spatstore2.htm

I simply ordered leg armor only because mine from another source is pretty torn up.

...and I just realized the price increase isn't until JULY 1, so ordered in plenty of time. ;)

Hi,

I''m a newbie and have just started saving up for my spat armour. Hope to have it for November so I can wear it to a convention then.

Out of ten how would you rate the spat armour compared to the original? How good is it?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

You may want to bear in mind the amount of time it takes to make (and ship) the armour:

Quote:
Quote:(from Armour FAQ @ SpatCave):

How long does it take to make one set of armor?

If I do nothing else (and remember, making Marine armor is NOT my full time job, though it does sometimes feel like it) I can make a set of armor in 5 days. But, since this is something I do as a hobby, I can't devote that much time to it, so it usually takes me 2 weeks to make a set. To make it easier, I do make multiple suits at once, usually 2 or 3 sets at a time. There are occasional delays in the making of the armor, since making armor is not my full time job. This is actually a hobby of mine, and there are times where real life, and my actual work gets in the way of the free time I need to make Armor. I hope you can all understand that.

I'm just wondering which of mine will arrive first; my MAA BDU or the Spat Armour? :D

Thanks for mentioning the order times. A lot of people seem to think I have a giant machine that I press a button on and a set of armor pops out like 2 minutes later. Or that I have a warehouse full of costumes ready to ship out at a moment's notice.

And I just went in and re-did the entire FAQ page to make it a little more easy to read, and to include some new questions people may need answered.

My armor's shipping tomorrow! YAY!

Quick question... I've got all the mounting hardware (which Gaurdian Matsuo graciously included with my shoulder lamp) necessary, but am unclear where each piece is placed. Any chance someone could walk me through it or at least point me in the right direction?

www.harryharris.com/breast2.htm

One bracket top, center; shoulder lamp bracket and locking plate, left side; two brackets bottom, left & right.

And from the article in the ARCHIVES SECTION, (Located at p220.ezboard.com/fthealie...D=11.topic ) here's Steve Radler's awesome TE armor...

That's like asking how a Lambo kit car compares to the original!

They look about the same, but one is high impact plastic, the other metal.

Now if you had asked about value for your dollar, then it's a 10 easily.

IT ARRIVED TODAY! IT ARRIVED TODAY!

Oh, man, it looks great. Fits great, too. Later on, I'm gonna install the shoulder lamp brackets and I'll be right up on the ready-line! Pictures to come.

Just be sure to reinforce the armor from the inside wherever the lamp bracket is going to go. If not, the weight of the lamp can do some damage to the armor over time. Use some scrap plastic or something similar on the inside of the armor where the bolts will go as oversized washers. This will distribute the weight of the lamp over a larger area, so it's not putting all the stress on one small area where the bolt is coming through.

Does that make sense?

And I'm glad you like the armor!

Thanks for the tip, Spat! It makes a lot of sense as it puts a lot of my sheet metal know-how to use. :D
