The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

OK so next is the plate that fixes the SPAS grip to the racking arm and this is the thing that worries me most as it will be easy to wreck the grip. I am thinking of chiselling out the indent for the plate in the grip....but not experienced with a chisel!!!!

Are there other options. Considered a dremel with a routing bit, but I imagine it would be easy to slip and make a mess....anyway tomorrow is the day, preferably before Murray beats Federer and Alonso wins Silverstone.

I had a hard time with that part too. I originally tried the dremel with the big router attachment, but ended up messing it all up. Took off the attachment and just free-handed with the router bit. Worked better, but it was not clean and I ended up making the indent too big. Had to fill and sand.

Here's hoping you have a better time of it than I did.

Early up this morning to do some fettling, drilling, snading and the dreaded chiselling!

Image

Made a plastic jig last night to hold the small plate securely. Let it dry overnight.

The jig worked great, held it in place while the holes were drilled and the countersinking.

Image

finished.....now to the chiselling. Last time I tried to use a chisel I slipped and gouged my finger!!!! not bad but blood did seep.

Do not want to go there again so will use a bit of brain this time and chisell away from danger!!!

Chiselled out and plate inserted.

A bit of filling and sanding to do but overall...well chuffed with my efforts when I was very worried about screwing it up

Come on Murray!!

Lots of sanding and fettling, has got the contours smoothed

Glad that what I thought to be the scary bit is done. Just fitting a switch into the trigger assembly next.

Glad you got it done! my hero PR still needs a real SPAS pump and the part still sits on my workbench. Perhaps I'll work on it tonight!

Cheers Reaper....

Yesterday, I fitted the SPAS grip to the Rem..so now I can rack it......EEEEK!

Image

Image

However the grip is so tight that its a herculean affort to rack it.

So whats the prescibed method of loosening her up? Sanding the inside of the grip? Trying to streatch the grip?

Any ideas welcome. Any practical been there done than assistance even better.

Thanks for taking a look.

BTW the PR is not set up to shoot round corners, the front barrel triangle is loose fitted

On another note...whenever I post pics on photobucket, a sign pops up to tell me i am todays lucky winner of an iphone 4. This happens EVERY time I go on the site, even different days......AM I THE LUCKIEST GUY ALIVE!!! Must claim them all one day....I reckon they owe me about fifty of them.

I heat them and spread them out with a wood block slightly oversize.

YAY.....After lots of hours trawling the net over the past few weeks....I have found my switch.

Its a lever type measuring a tiny 6.5 x 8.2 x 2.7 mm. Perfect for the job.

Even better...found them on Greedybay and bought them. Pack of 5 for £5. Bargain as nearest RS components is 18 miles away so cheaper in the long run and saves time too.

Very happy man. Now the end really is nigh.

Good weekends to you all.

I had this problem too. The first thing you need to do is make sure you have a spacer in between the shotgun pump arm and the SPAS grip. Like so:

Image

You can see more about mine in my build thread (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6259)

This helps alot, although it still takes some effort to rack the pump. Without it, when you tighten down the screws, it pinches the grip down on the cage, making it difficult, if not impossible to rack. Sanding and/or oiling the grip may help as well.

Question on your Lightbenders counter. It looks like you are using the small CR2032 type coin battery. Does your counter work well with them? I had trouble with mine. It would light up, but wouldn't count down correctly. Those batteries don't seem to have the umph to power the counter correctly. That is why I went with the CR123A type battery (again, more about this in my build thread and also on The RPF here http://www.therpf.com/f9/pulse-rifle-co ... ost1687105)

Hey dude, things been a bit slow, though I did discover my wiring is all wrong on the PR counter as I had followed a pic of DBoz' wiring and they have used different coloured wires on mine! Thankfully it says on the board so need to adjust the wiring. Going to use a 6v battery, just need to thin out the shroud to get it to drop a mm or so so it does not interfere with the mag being inserted.

Not done much as kids on holiday now which always limits time for messing about with toys and also had a rank cold during this fine weather so feeling rough too. Maybe get some done at the weekend. Good to hear from you Andy. Take Care
