I've waited most of my life to build this. I've been thinking about it since 1986 after walking out of the theater. I just never had a place to build it before. If I had more room it would be even bigger.

Almost ready for clayfoam... you can finally see what I am going for here... I tried to do one shot matching the lighting of the movie.. still a long way to go.

What hive? I only see Time Crisis! F'ing love that game, back when arcades were a thing. Used to play both players at the same time, so I could dual-wield (of course not especially practical given each players' view changes from time to time, but still super fun).


P.s. the hive looks really, really good! I think the two different materials [foam over the PVC] work really well together.

Yea I was buying Arcade1ups a lot until the company stopped making new ones.. now they just do re-release and re-release.

As for the hive color... pay no attention to that. After clay foam the whole thing will get a full paint job like the Alien did. This is exactly how I made the Alien.

Sticking with the topic of "items seen in the background"... I've wanted to ask about the "Heavy Metal" robot and the 3-D signage.
Guessing they are both scratch built ?

Sorry I was at work... yea that was my first project.. had to have a giant Heavy Metal wall. I changed the black lights to LED later on..
