The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

There's a few tiny clips of him on the fifth disc of extras, where they're first investigating the sub-levels in the atmo processor.
They also mention the swap to Michael in the interviews, but don't actually mention him by name.

Not watched all the Aliens extras yet, so there may be more.

Thanks Steve. I know the producer was seeking permission to use some of his clips so I guess it didn't pan out.

From the interviews, it seems they only had him for filming the early sub-level search scenes, so maybe the bits they have is all there is? :?

They explain how they did the scene where Hudson says "Don't ask me, man; I only work here!" and used a minature of the ceiling to fool everyone (including Fox execs! :D) that the set was huge, also stating that Michael was brought in during the days they filmed that, but left Remar in the scene, just editing the start so we don't see his face as he turns away from the camera.

Yeah that stuff is on the Quad, Steve. There is additional footage I believe, including some behind the scenes stuff. They needed his permission to use it though. I know that he refused permission when they did the Quad. It's possible Willie Goldman saw some of the footage, if so he might chime in here.

Does anyone know if there are any new stills of the Sulaco model on this release? May be a little while before I buy the set; relocating to the UK next year so figured I may want to wait until the move.... 8)

Does anyone know if there is a list of exactly what is brand new material for each of the films?

I watched some of the 'making of' each movie and it is mostly what was on the quadrilogy.

Wow, I just watched Aliens with the commentary on (which was awesome) and I only just noticed that, in the opening scene, you can see the harpoon gun by the door as the robot arm cuts through it. In all my many viewings of Aliens, I can't believe I've never seen that before.

Saw it back in 1986, couldn't make it out on the VHS or DVDs though. :)

We all know the UK version is cheaper than the US version. I noticed the superior artwork on the US version which explains a bit.
It's really nice and I'm quite jealous!

I just spotted something I've not seen before!

Weirzbowski giving Gorman the finger! :D

It's just as Gorman finishes his "I want this thing to go smooth..." speech. Hel walks out of frame left, with Wierz' hands just in shot to the middle-right.

In the pics below, the one with the cap on at bottom-right is Crowe, as we see his face clearly as they assemble before the speech, so it's got to be Wierzbowski. :)

It barely lasts a second, so I guess I'm not that observant.

It's probably also viewable on the DVD, but I've not noticed it before. 8)

For anyone getting the BDs, check your player's firmware is the latest version.

Just checked mine, as the discs seemed to stall every now and then on start up, needing a press of the Menu button on the remote to get to the main menu.

A new firmware was released for mine in September, so am updating now. :)

The Enhancement Pods for Aliens has Willie and Harry in the credits and a copyright date of 2009, but some of the footage looks old, so dunno how much has not been seen before?

Looked through the 252 Aliens continuity pics this afternoon and spotted what Bill Paxton mentioned in the recently published Empire magazine interview:
Bill Paxton wrote:
And all these hilarious British characters, like Trevor Steedman, the stuntman, who used to grab my bicep and go, 'Blimey, more meat on a cat's cock!'"

Here's the evidence:

I've been going through the Alien extras since last Tuesday, and I'm not sure what's new and what's off the DVD set (it's been a long time since I watched the DVD extras), but it's all good stuff.

I wonder if this photographer knew something no-one else did, or maybe Cameron got the idea from it:

Also, in the Laserdisc part, there is a part that says the Space Jockey was inspired by a picture from Giger's Necronomicon. Does anyone know which picture this is?

So, just checked some of the box set out ( stuff usually takes a while to ship to my base), gotta say, my favorite part so far is the " deleted scene montage" after the Burke scene......any little bit of extra Marine dialog I love!

Only fix things I saw so far were:

Not seeing Lance's body in the hole when grabbing newt from going into space.

When Ripley is taping the flamethrower and PR together, continuity is correct now.

Anybody catch anything else?

Seeing the Beam support on the neck of the queen was a downer and the tv monitor exposure on that initial tracker screen.

Colors are amazing!! They did a great job. Plus the interface is a lot better than previous ones.

Not found anything useful, but the in-film passing shot looks very sharp, so ypu might find that useful when you get them.

I think theres been work done to the scene with Ripley and the powerloaders - specifically where the other loader is passing behind Ripley. Ive only watched it the once but it looked much better than before.

Thanks for checking Steve. It appears that the UK version is region free and will play on US players....it'd be good to know if it's true of the other way round, and if I bought it here in the US, it'd work on UK players...at least then I could go get it with knowing I wouldn't have to re-buy it later :-)
Could someone please tell me what it says on the US discs in terms of the Region...?
