The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I have been looking for a bar to put in the corner of basement ever since I moved 6 months ago and was forced to leave my old one behind. Last week I found a guy selling a custom made "Fish Tank" bar with a 75 gallon tank built in for just $70. I have no real interest in keeping fish...so...BOOM!

My basement feels complete and I have the perfect place to display my otherwise harder-to-display props. Not to mention I can keep the little one's hands off my more prized and/or dangerous items which, until now, meant keeping them high in the air and out of the way.

That looks great! Are the "tiles" in the bottom something custom, or part of an under-gravel aquarium filter?

Now you just need a replica of the neon bar sign from Acheron!

That really looks great *and* is super smart. You don't want your little guy practicing Bishop's knife trick for example...

Thanks guys!

The tiles were with the tank when I bought it, so I assume its part of the under gravel filter process. I think the look works pretty good though.

I would LOVE a proper neon bar sign. Then WY logos would certainly replace the sports stuff!

Did you say you took just part of your PR shroud to the Expo to get signed? Very smart.

Yep! I thought so anyways 8) . Just took the right half of the shroud so it fit in a back pack and couldn't be confused as a weapon in the airports.

And thanks again for all the positive feedback everyone. Now I am starting to obsess over the beer sign though! It needs to there!!!

I think I am going to try to build one. Closer inspection shows it isnt truly a "neon" sign (Well, the "Stroh's" beer sign under it is and I aim to find one of those as well). But he "BAR and grill" sign is actually a back lit box.

Good luck with your "BAR and grill" project. 8)
One day you can say " ... and it all started with a fish tank" looking at your colony.

I totally agree about the sign being backlit (and therefore more easily made!), but for what it's worth the miniature one looks like neon:

Come to think of it, these are not supposed to be the same sign, there are two signs pointing to the bar!

We are attempting to build a custom bar with a vivarium under it this year for the Naughty Corner Pub (our family room)
