The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Did anyone else have the AvP game on the Atari Jaguar?

Back in the day, I made maps of the levels (playing as the Marine) on graph paper. :)

Sadly they've been lost in time. :(

But someone else put them on the internet!

:D 8)

Only problem with my game cartridge is that one of my nephews borrowed the Jag and game a few years ago and saved his games over the top of mine, including the Marine game with all the weapons.

There are cheat codes though, so I may do those and re-save the game, for possible play at future Drops. :)

Oh, and although the game looked good (to me, back then) on a 14" monitor, it makes me go  when viewing it on my Samsung 32" LCD HD TV now (especially in the Predator ship), due to the visuals being very, very pixellated at that size.

Wish I'd had the chance to play this on it's original console... ROMs and emulators just don't cut it. :)

The pink acid boots cheat was in Alien Trilogy on PSX, if memory serves, still got that and still play it.

I had the Atari Jag, got it strictly for that game. I loved it but it frustrated me to no end. I think I got all the way through the Pred section, but found the alien levels impossible. I fared a bit better on the Marine levels, but just could not make it to the escape pod in time. After trying a hundred times (or more) I finally gave up.

Now Syndicate, THAT was a game! :)

Yup, my experience with AvP was about the same as yours. :)

Maybe you'll get the chance at Braehead later this year.

BTW, love the TV advert for the game:

Looks great, between that and Ghostbusters, looks like I'll have to get a XBOX 360.

I really hope they do end up making this for the Nintendo Wii.
Imagine how fun that would be!
I can just see it now....

I can't see that video, but it was the Atari Jag/AvP. Man that game was cool, seems like a million years ago that came out. I remember I had just started living on my own when it came out and it was my first big purchase since living "independent".

Which brings back even more memories, but that's going OT. :)

Yup.

I have the cartridge, but the keyboard inlay cards disappeared when the nephew borrowed the game.

So, there's this game coming out for the 360 this Halloween called Dead Space. You play the sole surviving crew member of a mining ship infested with aliens. Sound familiar? Some people are calling it "Resident Evil 4 in space." Check out the video HERE.

Oh dear lord.
Not only do I know this cheat....I can correct you :P

1gotp1nk8c1dbootson actually.

We still have a PS1 here.....may have to find that game now for some good ol' fun. I remember when it first came out - loved it.

But not to hijack.....never had an Atari but I know there are videos of this came on youtube.
Watched and saw Aliens in game form long before I was gaming back in the 90's

Got the cheat working:

"I've got movement! Signal's clean. Range; six metres!"

Pity you can't give yourself ammo without collecting some first.

The visuals look a lot better now that I've changed the screen aspect from 16:9 back to 4:3. 8)

Here's an interesting thought...

What if "our" marines where not the first group to be sent to LV-426?? Remember when Ripley says to Newt "These people are here to protect you, they are soldiers" and Newt responds back "It won't make any difference". Could she be referring to another group of colonial marines that came before??

The company may not have revealed that this was the second rescue operation.....

It would give the game designers a great excuse to show Acheron again.

I hope they don't do that. I hope they take this opportunity to show us some places we haven't seen before.

Gotta get a Texas Marine down to Gearbox to show 'em the gear.

Tony, I know it's a bit of a drive for you, but since none of the Texas Marines have stepped up to the plate to volunteer...

yeahhhh, that's pretty much a blunt statement there... whose going to call me on it?!

Sooooo Tony, whattya say?
