The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

It is currently on-hold.

If you're asking me, I think that Sega will look at how successful the upcoming AvP game ("AvP3" - as in the sequel to the late-90s PC games) is and decide then whether to restart development on Aliens:CM

I was under the impression that Gearbox were concentrating on Aliens:CM now that they've got Borderlands out. There was a recent quote from Randy Pitchford about the recent Modern Warfare dedicated server debacle, stating that Aliens:CM would have them.

That's what I read as well. It sounded like they would be working on it now.

And geo71, I see you have the Spectrum version of Aliens there! I'm more of a C64 fan myself :)

lol! hey! what a great game Aliens on the c64/spectrum was back in the day! me and my whole family spent literally hours and hours trying to navigate our way through the complex/maze in the hope of finding newt and maybe a few facehuggers!!! Imagine it, me, my dad, my mum and three squeeling, jumpy sisters taking turns at contolling/navigating.....great memories! especially when all hell broke loose and it meant hitting the keys to file through the characters as the buzzers went off! complete panic!!!! lol... I still have the spectrum and the the game in the loft! I think I'll get it out this christmas and we can try it again!!! we never did complete it!

Thanks for the info about the new colonial marines game! hope that it doesn't get shelved, the screenshots looked amazing!!! fingers crossed we get to see this come to fruition someday soon!

Yeah, the UK Aliens game was VERY hard. I never got anywhere near finishing it. I have a C64 and Amiga sat next to me here :D

The Aliens:CM game is my most looked forward too game. I'll be extremely annoyed if it doesn't come out, just like I was when the PS2 version was cancelled.

Fairy snuff, mate. I was taking my cue from some other, more recent thread in which I was mis-informed that it was Bess Brown. They lied!!!

Oh yes.
Because ANY Rifleman knows that "Brown Bess" is the term for some useless Redcoat firearm that cannot hope to compare to a Baker Rifle ;)

Actually Gearbox was waiting to see how Boarderlands was going to do as far as sales went, since the gameplay for both is simular. From what I can gather from the insiders that I have met during my forced retirement / unemployment outsourcing activities for the past 9 months...I got to meet a few individuals that work at Gearbox at the same building in Plano, Texas where the Outplacement Company was. I have a friend at my old work and his brother is going to work for Gearbox next week...hopefully to start work on A:CM (*crossing fingers*) and since thier office is 10 miles up the road from me in Plano, Texas, I'll keep checking and hounding them. Gearbox for some reason has concidered A:CM a niche market, which may be the reason for the start / stop work on it...and don't believe everything you read on the Gearbox Forum.

Short derail, on the subject of Alien games - Did Alien trilogy ever make it to the PC?

[been playing Alien V predator gold, really not enjoying it too much. 10 minutes of darkness, followed by falling off a platform and having to start again? no thanks.]

This game is right at the top of my most wanted list too. With AI in squad-based single player constantly improving and the ever-growing popularity of online multi-player combat games over the past couple of years, this game could really turn out to be head and shoulders above the rest.

Guess it all boils down to how much time and care go into development. This hold back could actually turn out to be a very good thing, giving Gearbox the necessary time to get everything right, rather than rushing to meet a marketing deadline. I really hope that turns out to be the case with this one. :delta:

I've been tracking this game since it was announced way back when, but haven't received any new updates for a while. While pre-ordering "Aliens vs Predator" earlier today I stumbled upon this pre-order info. Hard to know if they have any hard evidence at this point, but they must believe it's coming... they have it scheduled for release 11/11/11. 8) :delta:

Various online outlets have had this available for pre-order for well over a year. And, when their estimated release dates become unrealistic, they set another. Amazon UK currently thinks March 26, 2010.

I think the games press would have heard about it if it was concrete.

We'll see. But in the meantime, I'm gonna preorder one of these: http://www.firebox.com/product/415/Moll ... 0?aff=1108

My thinking exactly. Maybe there will be something more concrete forthcoming at the next E3. Anyway, 2011 could very well turn out to be the year, though I hope it's not that far off! :delta:

For those that think it's on "indefinite" hold... from the mouth so to speak of a Gearbox employee on the Gearbox forums:

Quote:
The "42" reference was from Hitchhiker's Guide, but may also be the number of people currently working on the game, now that I think about it.

*Sigh...sadly this game has been delayed to make way for Aliens vs. Predator 3 by Sega. Hopefully it'll be worth it. :)

Randy Pitchford finally opened up and said two weeks ago that Colonial Marines is back on the front burners after Borderlands became less of a top priority. It sounds like it's full steam ahead.

Outstanding news. Communial fingers crossed for a superb game from Gearbox.

Gotto love the quote in that article though:

'Coloial Marines - the universe's most well-armed alien food group.'

Hey guys, my first proper post here. :)

Its been fairly quiet on the Gearbox Aliens game front, and it looks like we still have quite a wait before we finally see this game released, but I thought I'd update you guys with a few new images we have been able find over at the Gearbox forums.

Not sure how you guys do things here, so I decided to bump this thread rather than create a new one. Hopefully it was the right call. Anyway to the goodstuffs.

As for official news on the game. Again no show at E3 this year, but its been confirmed by the GBX community manager and a few other devs who post in the forums or via twitter, that the game is still in development.
