The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

No, Quicktime Events (QTE) are mini-events that take place during regular gameplay that require you to press a certain button in a short amount of time to prevent the players death.

In this instance, a facehugger attaches itself to your face, and you have three seconds to press (V) to cut it off your face before you are killed.

That's a QTE.

Seeing what happened in 'Alien', I wonder if there will be much acid blood once you cut it off...

Might be more like when Ripley and Newt are attacked in Medical, with the facehugger trying to grab you and you have to push it away.

@Scapey: A recent game to use QTEs is Mass Effect on the 360, which has you pressing quick sequences of buttons to open locked crates, defuse bombs, etc.

What he said... that would be a good start to mix some close-enough BB for those who can't find any tins/don't want to work with BB/want to customize their shroud color a little bit (i.e. more OD) etc.

Honestly, we really don't know what the QTE event will be, and we're judging based on something that is only hypothetical.

Let's just wait and see.

How's that look?

Got to the cross reference page via the humbrol wikipedia entry. Lookie here:

http://www.fortunecity.com/meltingpot/p ... umbrol.htm

says that Humbrol 170 Brown Bess is "RAL 7013". So I looked that up, found this:

http://www.easyrgb.com/reference.php

run it through the calc and made the pic above. Not too bad. Any input appreciated, since I don't really have any Brown Bess to compare it to...

Hard to ask for input/advice on a colour over the internet as everyone's monitors might display it differently.

On my screen personally it looks too light- BB is much darker.

Brown Bess is an enigma of a colour. In different lighting conditions it can appear more olive drab, more brown, darker, lighter...

Or depending on how well you stir the paint in the tin (as it can be pretty fussy to completely mix properly with a stir stick)- it can appear totally flat, or have a bit of a satin sheen to it. :?

I'm so glad the art department (or whoever it was) on "Aliens" choose this colour.

I'm thinking BB was chosen simply because it looked more like olive drab under the lighting they had than OD itself, which probably came off as too dark. So does the whole preference thing boil down to "do I want my gear to look like what the actors saw on set" or "do I want my gear to look like what Colonial Marine gear would if I were to step into that universe"?

Well both, got to know Henry from a file I once picked up way back in the single-file-downloading era, and won tickets for a performance back in January (22nd to be exact).

Right Aliens: Colonial Marines Sit Rep after the no show at E3

First, from Kotaku explaining why the no-show

Quote:
The Game: Aliens: Colonial Marines

The Hype:
A new FPS based on the Aliens IP? Count us in. Sega first revealed official details of the Gearbox-developed title in February 2008, teasing with a quick trailer at its gamers' day in May. The release date is supposed to be "late 2008," the same timeline as other games shown at E3. So why did Aliens: Colonial Marines skip the party?

The Facts:
Sega of America president Simon Jeffery told our own Crecente that Aliens was the game he was most looking forward to among the publisher's entire lineup. "I think Aliens is going to be kickass," he said. Coming out this year, then? "Well, fiscal year," said Jeffery. "This E3 we're really focusing on stuff that's coming out by the holidays, as much as possible," he added.

Second, we have an interview with Gearbox on Shacknews, talking about the creative team involved, including two BSG scriptwritters and the return of Syd Mead

Absolutely on the nail - a Pulse Rifle IS OD.

In the 'real' world. ;)

Regarding this: I would hope that everyone would be on their best behavior when talking/dealing with company reps. This could be the kind of 501st/mainstream acceptance that we could finally receive, since none of the AL (with perhaps the excaption of Willie or Harry) have been involved in the production or promotion of any previous Aliens related games.

The reason why Lucasfilm keeps going to the 501st for promotions is because they take themselves seriously, and act professionally.

Keeping in mind we're a bit more "loose and fast" than that, but try to keep things under control. :)

At SD Comic-con some studio reps talked to members of Sci-fi Hero.net about the possibilities of promoting their new online game Stargate Worlds. There was also talk of getting the "Aliens Guys" involved in promotion for the upcoming games.

Let's not screw this up folks. :)
