But why-oh-why did they need to give the beast awkward dog-legs?

I read somewhere that it was "in order to provide the Alien a walk cycle that would hold up to scrutiny during longer encounters with the player"...

I've been spending quite a lot of time watching its legs while hiding under desks!

Not wholly impressed so far...
Just got past the bit where Nice Scottish Chap karks it and I'm roaming the area alone. Opened the wrong door and got met by someone with a shottie in my face - bang, dead, game over.

Graphics are pretty nice, but the interaction with the 3D models seems a bit off - I walk too close or touch something and it flies off in a loud clatter. Really enjoying the cutscenes, though!
Glad I have film grain enabled, as I think it would look a touch cartoony without.

Early hints imply that most of the gameplay involves dodging humans, androids and probably a homicidal station computer, though... Not impressed if that is the eventual case!

Loving this game so far, I'm now in Medical and the Alien is roaming around.
I managed to creep past all the Seegson androids in an earlier level, only to have been spotted by the last one before leaving the level. It tried to strangle me, but I managed to get it off and I just legged it the rest of the way for the elevator! Superb!

Me, too. I did it on Normal. Did anyone do it on Hard?

I have just started the Nostromo DLC. This should be fun :D

Kin'ell! Do you guys have time machines, or are you the sort of people who function fine on 3 hours sleep a day? It was only released a week ago. Steam says I've managed 2 hours since then.

I thought you were going to say I've taken ages! I've probably spent about 45 hours playing it, though I did collect all ID tags, all Nostromo logs, all Archive logs apart from 2 (you only need 100 out of 151 for the trophy), and went in every room and got all the upgrades, etc. Lots of backtracking and, ermm, mapping. Yes I took screenshots of all maps and tried to work out which bit leads to which bit for when I was going back to open previously locked rooms, and collect missed things.

I ended up taking over 200 screenshots! I've just been taking more now I'm in the Nostromo

Well, that didn't take very long. I thought it would be a bit bigger than that for the DLC. I'd heard it took about 2 hours, so I expected it to take me about 4 (since people were saying the main game took about 12-15 hours), but it only took me 40 mins. You don't really get a chance to look around much once you get going.

Working night shift is how I was able to beat the game relatively quick.

So after a year of the release of the xbox one I finally bit the bullet and bought one yesterday.

I got a package deal (without kentic unit) from Game which included the A:I game. The only reason that I bought the console (how sad am I)?

Spent most of last night downloading the system and the game updates/extra content. But was able to play for awhile after the kids went to bed.

Looks good to me so far but only encountered the Scottish guy, no Aliens.

Only one question; is it worth getting the kentic for this game?

i haven't played it with the camera. thinking about re playing it with the noise detection option turned on to see how that effects the game play. it sounds like a neat idea

You know, I though Waits' voice in Alien: Isolation sounded familiar:

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum, first post!

I love this game by the way!! I'm stuck at one part currently figuring out how to get around the Alien and find an ID Card. I think they did such a good job at making this game work just right.

Has anyone beaten it yet?

Has anyone compared the console vs the PC versions? The XBox1 version looks nice, but
the voice sync/character animations are a bit better on the PC version. The bad lip sync
is noticeable on the xbox, or at least on my game.

Here's a comparison of the two. They're pretty close, much closer than the 360 and pc/xbox1
versions.

Interesting game so far, and I'm only like 20 minutes in. Great "sets."

Aaaand I'm done :)
Hope the season pass DLC is sizable, the pre-release bits were pretty small...

Overall?
Loved it.
Not sure I could play through it again, it's not got as much repeat interest for me as, say, Borderlands 2 or Skyrim - But as a single campaign set in a universe I love?
It was spot-on. Only a few minor niggles ( The "I want to climb into this vent" detection on the square vents that lead to the shaft with windows in it, the fact that I got blueprints for a V3 EMP and a load of bolt-gun ammo late in the game, but never met any more androids... The fact that a rubber Teletubby costume makes the swines in question invulnerable to the stun prod and EMP grenades even when I stun 'em in the face! - As I say, all minor! ) and by far enough awesome to make up for 'em.

Moar plz.

Does anyone else feel the station looks too much like the Nostromo's refinery? It's awesome on the inside, but the exterior just seems too on the nose.

well it would make sense maybe to retro fit refinery platforms into a station. Tow some gutted hulks, retro fit there ya go. Big money saver. It could also be a collection point for smaller freighters.

It also shaves allot of the design budget for the developers ;)
