The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I broke down and picked it up on Steam.

Played with headphones in the dark. Lasted 13 minutes before flinging headphones away and waiting cowering in the corner until dawn.

I've just done the same. I've not got very far (I have to look at and check everything...) but the atmosphere is great.

I used to think Lambert was a whiny, weak-willed, least useful crew member of the Nostromo.

After having attempted to play the game three times, I have a whole new outlook on that character. Also, a bigger respect for Veronica Cartwright's acting abilities.

Game is so good! So tense, so scary! Keeps me on the edge of my seat. They did a great job. It captures the feel of Alien so well.

The Game is also getting good reviews in Germany.
I found this here: http://heise.de/-2414097 Alien: Isolation (unofficially) supports the Oculus Rift VR device.

My Nostromo Edition copy arrived yesterday (yeah, thanks Amazon) and I played it for about half an hour last night when I got back from work. I love that it's the opposite of the standard 'run and shoot' concept, and the designers have paid amazing attention to the look and design of the film.

By the way here's why I hate most video 'reviews'. Check this constructive commentary LOL! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnQbaklxf1A#t=157

I'm only an hour in (not much of a gamer), but this is hands down the best produced video game I've ever seen. The video grain on the Fox logo, the blips of static in the opening credits... just fantastic. Contrast this to the jarringly abrupt A:CM opening (especially paired with the A:R score!) and I was immediately loving the ALIEN vibe.
I was really pleased to see the Weylan-Yutani (no d) logo on a piece of paper in the locker room, along with a handful of new corporations. Interestingly there's a postcard later in the game with the Weyland logo on it, so Prometheus is acknowledged a little by this game.

I'm sure it's missing some atmospheric elements compared to the next gen, but it looks and sounds fantastic to me. The only wonky thing I've encountered is some flickering graffiti on a wall. If I turned just right some of the letters would vanish!

The first disc took a dog's age to load, then asked for disc two. It then started right up. Does that help?

I played it a bit yesterday and played it a lot more today. It's extremely stressful to play. Call me a wuss if you want. It's very well done and one of the better games I've played in a while.

I'm honestly happy that Sega finally got some decent use out of their IP license.

Needless to say. Someone with blood pressure as high as mine, should not have this much adrenalin in their system. lol

Currently i'm only on mission 5 and i'm freaking the $%&* out. lol

I'm loving the game - my progress is slow (partly down to not getting time/energy/mood to play) but it "feels" great.

But why-oh-why did they need to give the beast awkward dog-legs?

Just got the game for me Birfdee, so am downloading it now and will join you all in sheer terror tonight, hopefully.

I read somewhere that it was "in order to provide the Alien a walk cycle that would hold up to scrutiny during longer encounters with the player"...

So with Shadows Over Mordor, Elite Dangerous and several others (if Star Citizen ever delivers), the next few months of gaming look to be very very cool!!
