The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

It's look absolutely amazing.

Unfortunately, I have seen previews of absolutely amazing Sega Aliens games before.

I will still buy it on steam, but I refuse to have any hopes.

Didn't they say there wouldn't be any weapons in the game?

They're probably succumbing to the whole "make it marketable." I saw some video of the synthetic enemy. It did a few things that were very much like Ash (especially the little run in place), but it didn't look like a human. And I've never seen a synthetic in Alien lore that didn't look human.

As far as weapons, I don't think they said "no weapons" just that weapons would do any good and you couldn't kill the alien. Seeing the flamthrower didn't bother me. Seeing the revolver did.

It looks like Gary Napper actually said there would be guns a while ago:

I think this would have been more appropriate:

Quote:
Anyone who pre-orders the game will get a free upgrade to the Nostromo Edition, which includes the bonus content “Crew Expendable”. Players can choose to play as one of three surviving crewmembers, only moments after Brett’s death at the jaws of the creature. As Ellen Ripley, Dallas or Parker, players can explore the Nostromo from habitation deck down through engineering, coordinating their efforts with Lambert and Ash to lure the Alien into the ship’s airlock.

Alien: Isolation Pre-Order Bonus Content

In addition, consumers in North America who pre-order at GameStop and customers in Europe who pre-order at select retailers will exclusively also receive “Last Survivor” in which players pick up the story as Ripley tries to escape on the Narcissus. On hearing the screams of Lambert and Parker, players must navigate their way back down through the Nostromo in order to activate the self-destruct sequence, before retracing their steps back to the Narcissus shuttle and their escape.

Oooooh!

And with that, I am paying attention again!

The pre-order package looks a hell of a lot more fun and useful than some other bundles I have seen. I hope it looks decent on "last gen" systems though. (I will not be upgrading my system just for one game)

Side note I really like the image from the posted article. Could make a nice wallpaper.

That CGI Nostromo crew shot is strange. They got some details spot on, but then there's things like the drinking bird's feathers, too many ship patches, Parker's coat, Lambert's sleeves, Brett's cigarettes... remember that once again we're being told they have "exclusive access" to Fox's archives, and yet they clearly aren't paying much attention.

Aaargh, the more I look at it the more problems I see. Ripley's nametag, Brett's missing "scrambled eggs" on his hat brim, tall drinking cups that never existed in the film... very dissapointing.

Oh crap, I hadn't even seen that picture Quarax! How do you mess this up?? It's a computer generated image for christ's sake! Every error was someone choosing to not do it right. I was so much happier with this game when it was creating its own piece of the Aliens universe...

(I'm still probably going to preorder the game too)
