The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Official website is live, too.

Hopeful now, especially as a designer friend came out of hiding on FB with this announcement (kinda suspected anyway)

My initial comments on the gameplay vid;

PC quality visuals, so nobody be surprised if it doesn't look as good on your console of choice.

The CoD/Halo crowd will hate it; lack of guns, only one enemy in 8-10 hours of gameplay. Meaning low sales (compared to those franchises).

I'll be too scared to play more than a few minutes.

Not a fan of the survival-horror genre, so I probably give this a miss.

Just saw the teaser trailer on Xbox live last night. Not really into the survival horror
genre either (sorry, I like my guns), but will pick up the game based on the sweet
details seen so far. :)

I really like the looks of this, in spite of the fact I love the pulse rifle! However one thing spoils it for me-the idea you can actually hide from the alien? Doesn't it have superior senses-like a dog that uses it's nose to find you?

Wasn't the reason she survived was the fact she was able to hide in vents and closed spaces the aliens
were too big to fit into? That didn't mean they didn't know she was around.

Interesting.

I think that Newt was the only survivor speaks for the skills of the Aliens, not against them.

Perhaps at that point Newt, the hide & seek winner, wasn’t worth the effort of a search and destroy mission. Keeping in mind that she was a child and not all parents give birth to a chestburster, yet.

In terms of Alien senses and hunting skills I agree and perhaps that was just
to come in a couple of hours/days, when they run out of parents.

Interesting thought, I guess I'm used to the AVP games where you see a halo of pheremones that
makes it easy to track humans down-I don't doubt the aliens have a keen sense of sight (always thought that big smooth head was one big optical sensor) and hearing, but having such a different biology, it's possible they lack a sense of smell capable of picking us up. If that's true then staying out of it's line of sight and being quiet just might work.

Come to think about it, if the xenomorph doesn't use smell-then it just might home in on a synthetic as well as a human! Uh oh...

That's possible as well, why waste time chasing down a kid when you've got everyone else and a nice nest-reminds me of the alien in the Narcissius not jumping out and getting Ripley right off the bat, guess they
felt comfortable for the moment.

Food for thoughts, thanks :)

Kill a synthetic, if it has been marked by the queen as threat, yes.

Making him a host for a facehugger/chestburster? Mhhh.

The facehugger would need to get nutrition to grow, calories to burn etc.
Perhaps a synthetic could provide that. So I suggest not trying this out. :)

What does your manual say John38?
Shoud we create a new topc: Aliens: Diet?

I think being inorganic would disqualify synthetics from incubating anything-still wouldn't want to find out the hard way! ;)

There's a bit in the novel, where Bishop's crawling down the pipe wishing he had wheels, where he also comments that an Alien will attack if it senses movement, but won't follow up the attack if the movement ceases because they can't tell him apart from the structure of the colony.

It also just occurred to me, that if the Aliens wanted to capture Newt - Well, they don't instantly go from chest-sized to full-grown, do they?
They could have sent a juvenile in for lunch...
