The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Well, the Gearbox forums seem to be full of rabid haters foaming at the mouth and gleefully predicting that the US justice system will listen to their cries for vengeance.

Now I really hope this guy loses the case, just to see what their reaction would be!

Just wonder why it seems the world's gone very litigation happy. You have an injury due to neglect I can understand, but because the coffee was too hot, a barman served you too much beer, or a game wasn't any good?

My ex's dad used to work in a cinema, and a couple asked for a refund. Why? Because they came to see Black Beauty, but went in and watched Star Trek, Generations for over an hour. They claimed the signage wasn't adequate.

There isn't much of a cure for a lack of common sense...but some judges allow rediculous lawsuits to proceed.

This guy's suit may have had more credibility if it was approached differently. Advertising should after all, be accurate.

I think that the only reason that Gearbox may come unstuck is the way they worded their statements about the E3 footage.

Most people know that footage from a game almost a year from release will be subject to change/alteration. But if you LITERALLY took them at their word the sequence, in it's entirety, should have been in the finished game.

More news - copy of the actual suit

https://www.truthinadvertising.org/wp-c ... awsuit.pdf

"As a direct and proximate result of Defendants' unlawful, unfair, and fraudulent acts, Plaintiff and each Class member has suffered injury in fact and lost money by purchasing the Aliens:Colonial Marines and/or paying more than they would have if Defendants informed them that the qualities and specific features shown in the "actual gameplay" demonstrations would not be included in the retail version of the Aliens:Colonial Marines video game"

They're claiming $5,000,000+ in damages?? Holy crap!

I really hope he losses.

I thought the trailer to Silver Linings: Playbook made the film look funny, in reality it's a piece of crap student 'less is more' love story. I'm not going to sue for them wasting my time though...

This reminds me of the judge suing the dry cleaners for $5 million for losing his trousers.
It was tossed out as this one should/probably will be.

Life's rough, get a helmet!!

That is an unreasonable amount...I wouldn't have even gone for monetary damages...some other type of compensation that would make all fans happy would have been more appropriate.

This phrase has done it for me though.

"has suffered injury in fact and lost money by purchasing the Aliens:Colonial Marines"

Injury? Seriously? That implies you were traumatised by the game!

Either he suffered the injury when he tripped over the doormat on the way out the computer game store, or his missus saw what he'd bought and slapped him!!

Isn't the whole point of a monetary transaction that someone loses money, but gains a product?

I'm owed allot of compensation if that's not the case!
