Had a chance to play both the campaign and bug hunt. OMFG! The AI is what it sbould be. Playing campaign on hardened, i was dying quite a few times. The xenos are much more ruthless and dont come at you as directly anymore. Bughunt was outstanding. I made it to wave 23. It is pretty well balanced and I enjoyed the balance of ammo recharges, xeno health etc.

I hope its enough to draw people back to it. We need to spread the word.

Yep the patch has made the game what it should have been on release. If it was released in its current state it would have been around 7 for overall scores instead of 3-4.
They patched it quite well as its only been a month since release. But it might be difficult to get players back, either way I've been making friends to play with over the past few days and I love Bug Hunt! B)

Completely agree chaps. I reckon these comments would have been better suited in the other thread though rather than starting a new thread. Just saying :) The conversation/topic is pretty much relevant to that thread and we're already discussing it over there. just helps to keep topics together. Perhaps the mods will merge?

I am cool with merging....i just wanted to make sure everyone knew about the good news. :-)

yeah it's great and you're right, we need to spread the word and get as many players back as poss, although that being said it sounds like there's now a good few of us here too that can play likeminded together as teams. Bug Hunt is exciting stuff! I panic so easily though! I get in a right flap!!

You're definitely not alone there. When people become more familiar with the maps and the way the game plays I think we'll all be able to ease down a bit and cooperate rather than panic. Just remember: "Short, controlled bursts."

Does the PC version on Steam Patch itself automatically?

Doubt it.

Most games you have to start/download manually or at least check the Downloads page to see what's there.

Steam, by default will automatically install game updates unless you turn the feature off.

They probably used an awkward split infinitive in the Preferences dialog box that displeased you. ;)

I'm looking forward to the film grain toggle option coming this week, I want to do some gameplay videos. :d

I hope they won't do just a toggle on/off, an adjustable film grain strength would be nice.
It would allow to choose individual brightness/grain mixtures.
I like the grainfilter a lot, but only with reduced brightness. With default brightness the
grain effect is too strong, but if you reduce brightness the mixture gets great!

Yup, definitely have to set the brightness as low as possible, otherwise it looks like a poor quality YT video. (on my old PC anyway) :)

In addition to the AI improvements, I dunno why but I SWEAR Hudson's MP voice actor sounds better following the patch. Either I got used to it, or the sound pitch was corrected, he seems to sound a bit more like Paxton now.

I noticed that too, in fact some of his wisecracks actually make me laugh in the middle of total chaos. Drake's not too bad, but Apone could use some work, like maybe a different voice actor. Too bad they couldn't have gotten A.M. to voice his own lines...

Al Matthews DID voice his own lines! He does sound a bit different, but I suspect that may be due to the intervening years, though I've not had the honour of meeting him in person so I can't say for sure.

Not chosen them in MP (I always play as Tentacle Chris 8)) and don't think I've seen them in MP yet.

So you hear their voices when you play as them, or when other players choose to play as them?

Stupid question...how do you unlock their voices?

Post subject:  Re: A:CM post patch(s)

From my experience you hear their voices when u are the character, or standing close to another player using the characters.

Only noticed tonight you can't customise (any iconic weapon) Hudson' gun for example, the error box says it would piss Hudson off if you messed with his gun (or to that effect) lol

How do you play as those characters? The only Marine I can play as is tbe one I customized.

Magnus you need a code which I believe came with region specific editions, for example in the UK we got a code to play as Hudson Apone, we got Ripleys pulse rifle etc but did not get say S.H.A.R.P

Here at Germany the codes for the additional characters and weapons come with the limited edition.
The phase plasma rifle and the BBs are only content of the collector's edition.

Ohhhhh....I just got the normal edition. I wonder what the special eddition is worth now?
