The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'm playing the PS3 edition of A:CM and was wondering if anybody playing the PC edition would be kind enough to post a few clear screen pics of Winters' bypass kit. High res would be great, but anything would be much appreciated! I need them as reference for a prop build, so the more detailed the better. Yoroshiku onegai shimasu. :)

Cheers!

Until someone posts higher res pics maybe this will do? It's a screengrab from one of the teasers someone posted a few months back.

Mudshark should have mentioned that I'd already sent him the link to that pic. :)

Indeed I should have, but cheers (to both of you) for posting it anyway!

I'm really hoping for a few high res PC pics with good lighting. Winter whips it out (his bypass kit) and does the job too quickly for me to get a decent pic with my camera, but it should be much easier to capture with a PC I would imagine.

Here are the shots I grabbed from my PS3 version with my HDPVR.

I am assuming you are planning a build? so am I, hopefully, thats why I nabbed these during a survivor match :)

My planning and guesstimations lead me to believe that the case is roughly 8" x 5.5" or 6" x 1.5".

I was going to get a small zippered nylon planner and sew on the cover flap you see on the right side to make it "trifold", yet still have the ability to close with the zipper.

Assuming the alligator clips are 1.5" in length, which is the smallest I could find on ebay, I gathered the size of the case, the size of the multimeter (4.5" L x 2.5" W with a 2" wide screen) and the size of the other device (6.5" L x 4" W with a 3" x 3" screen and a 2.5" long L antenna)

I was going to make the device by using a small MP4 player and perhaps a calculator unless I 3D model the body to house an MP4 player.

I will add the image to my photobucket for show, but I will provide a link to download it from my dropbox, as it is very large. I tried uploading it to ALs server but it booted me, guess it is too big haha

I had also planned to make the gloves, hence the file name (my hands are small so buying something similar is pretty much out of the question haha)

DOWNLOAD FULL SIZE: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0ssxj2tnclei6 ... gloves.png

Anything else you guys want, let me know! :) I've got the tools to capture images or video of anything in the game :)

A notion was put forward that each grunt would make/compile their own hack pouch as Hudson's hardly looks like a standard issue item. These shots of the one Winters has would certainly back up this idea as it is similar but quite different. I'm curious to see what you folks create!

That occured to me too, only in the opposite way. In Rumpelteazer's images you can see the WY logo on the case. I saw that and thought "I thought all hack kits were scratch built by the marine?". It could be that the logo just meant WY made the case and not the device. But where did the "marine builds his own hack kit" idea come from? Tech manual? Just a theory? I was never clear on that.

Well I got the idea from Derek:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4534&hilit=hack+pouch

I assume it was original to him, but who knows?

@ Moosh89 - Thank you very kindly for all the info & pics! I'm sure they will all be extremely helpful. I guess the fun part will now be finding & building all the kit's components! Looking forward to seeing your build in progress. 8)

I don't recall hearing about Marines putting together their own hack kits, but don't see why not, given the possible requirements of a particular mission and its objectives. It would also make sense that some Wey-Yu components would probably be used in a custom hack kit as well. I think it'll be very interesting to see what sort of creative prop builds people come up with based on this.

I have no idea if I will actually "DO" it. I tend to have a hard time doing physical stuff, but I have plans and plans and plans and plans coming out of my brain. Luckily I write them all down and document them for future reference, so I have no problem sharing them for others to follow :) haha

I hear that. I've got lotsa ideas and projects in various stages of completion but just not enough time to get many of them finished these days. Takes forever it seems. Anyway, I don't expect to slap this one together any time soon, but I may already have some bits & pieces to get it started, and all the pics & information everyone has kindly provided will definitely be useful. Probably won't be ready till D-Con 2015 though... IF I'm lucky!

Moosh you are AWESOME! This is perfect. Gives me an idea on functionality. Think I'm going to make one for my brother.

The game version looks completely different to the film version. Probably so you've got something nice to look at, as you hardly see the film version up close
