 Post subject: Did they increase Marine weapon damage?

I've noticed in the last week that during versus, especially in TDM, my marine K/D ratio is increasing. When I'm a xeno, I'm finding I get killed quicker. Just wondering if they patched the Marine's weaponry to make the versus a bit more balanced?

They have done something....the damage is definatly different. Xeno damage seems decreased as well. Game isnt as fun.

It's possible. A:CM supports what was termed "micro-patching" which was exactly this: tweaking the damage values when a client logs into MP, without needing a proper patch.

LOL, On the Xbox I thought they DECREASED the weapon damage! Light a bug on fire, empty
half a magazine into him and he still kills you. :)

Of course, I don't mind when I'm a bug... :)

I'm just finding something different...it seems to be weapon damage, I'm not sure. Tonight when I played I had to work hard at getting a 2:1 kill death ration with the xeno...I find the scoring in games more often now is closer. Before the xeno's would completely dominate.

I didn't get the chance to play a lot during the first week or two so I don't have a real solid frame of reference. I participated in some real one-sided matches as a Marine winning and losing against Marines though, so I think you're probably right.

I consistently dominate as a xeno with at least a 2:1 KDR and often 3:1. As a Marine I'm lucky to break 5 kills most games. :/

Kronk, try meleeing them as they come close.

I find it equally easy to kill as both races. With my shotgun I can kill an Alien with two shells, the tactical shotgun with stock on full auto will do the trick for you at close range too. Try melee if you can't get breathing room.

As an alien, it's simple. Hit them with your tail, hit them with a heavy strike, they'll die.

I think the whole "easier to kill" vs. "harder to kill" thing depends more on what group you get dropped in with. If you are playing against a bunch of guys ranked in the 50s and 60 then they have significantly leveled up and be more efficient killers. While playing a bunch of lower level scrubs it will appear easier.

Each session (at least mine) tend to mostly leave you with the core people from that group over and over again, so some sessions do appear harder and a session a couple days later appears easier (or vise versa). But nothing changed. Nothing but your opponents, anyways. At least that was my observation while being equally awful at both races!

Leveling up certainly helps and any group, leveled or not, playing as a team becomes significantly more potent. I've shut out other teams or been blanked myself on Execution matches becuase the xenos have been able to lock down the two initial (and geographically close) capture points. Player rank and team play are both really important at least in the matches I've seen though the edge would have to go to a well organized team over any perks imho.

Ive had the opposite. Ive been doing really well with the aliens and crap with the marines. Unload an entire mag into a charging alien before it goes down.

Don't forget that the Marines and Xenos have upgrades which give extra health, health regen, etc., so that'd affect games' 'balance' too.

True...I've tried using different caparaces for the xeno...I tend to go back to the hollow exo skeleton so I can move faster.

I used the regeneration with the soldier recently. I'm not really sure if it does anything.

I would love to know why my lv50 marine with totally upgraded pump action with extra-damage upgrade. And even shooting the fuckers in the head can't kill them in one shot. But the bastards can do it to me!!!!! No fair! :p :p

I noticed the shotguns are really spotty today. I had a pretty tough time hitting things, even at close range. I guess that could be lag but the pulse rifle had no problems.

Mostly had a really good time just using the Boiler. I didn't realize how quickly it could kill by just spitting acid. Really useful, and also since it runs really fast things get pretty interesting. Also had a good run with the Crusher in the basement of the Hive level.

Are you hard-sighted with the shotty Garrowan? That makes a difference for me. Even more so with the Pulse. I like to spray and pary but aiming has been the key to super fast takedowns im my experience.
