The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

i so agree Mantroon when i nit pick i try to see why they might have done that. im luving everything that i have seen so far and have used a few things also just like the goggles and the drop leg i luv both those things so i stole them for my build. and yes i would luv to know what has changed from the start till now. and i have played the game 2 times now and i luv everythin so far so much better then most modern FPS games on the market. i do know the first story was to be on a research satellite that is on a asteroid i thing.

From what I recall, in early articles hyped up the aspect of "squad based combat" where you could command 3 other marines. They "cutting edge" things they were hyping was the ability to seal doors with the welders and close off windows to defend against the alien attacks. It sounded like a big 'survival mode' of sorts. But I dont recall anything about the story.

As for why it was 'on hold' then finally cancelled in Oct 2002, I dont think an explanation beyond "we can't comment on that at this time" was ever offered by EA. I did hear that part of it was because they wanted to focus on the release of the AVP real time strategy game (extinction)... but hopefully someone knows more than I did.

I see now that was probably directed at me,

First off, I have been VERY supportive of this game and continue to be. I have very few "nitpicks" and I don't "go looking for them", they just pop out to me.

Over on the official forums on Gearbox's site, I am very active. I even have started a countdown thread that I update regularly, and encourage positive discussion.

Forums are for voicing opinions, and I will continue to do so.

I'm not continually bashing the game, I do like what I see, but Bella is just something I am not too thrilled about. Jennifer Redding however, is an excellent example of how females should be portrayed.

I was expecting a game similar to the movie, but I see it won't be EXACTLY like the movie, so I am lowering my expectations so I am not too disappointed. I find that to be the hardest part. I really do enjoy anticipating things.

No disrespect to anyone, including Gearbox :)

I for one am glad its not exactly like the movie as i know how that ended and unless im playing as hicks or ripley im not going to be completing it, as for what a female should look like i think they are aiming at the masses as aposed to one persons view?

I for one, can't wait for this game to come out. The online multiplayer has me most excited.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for a sci-fi themed shooter that was similar to Modern Warfare. I know this game isn't it, probably- but still. :)

OK, I have no problem with voicing an opinion, I like to do it on a regular basis (as many people have probably have noticed).

But there's constructive crit, and there's picking holes for the sake of it.

'her belly is exposed!' - Yeah, and Vasquez ran around for the majority of the movie in BDU trousers and a tiny vest, on what seemed to be quite a wet and cold planet, and did no one think of giving her some spare armour or something when the Aliens were attacking? No.

'Is she wearing an earring?' Probably - but Drake wore chicken bones.

I just think everyone expectations for this game are a little too high, bordering on unattainable.

I know people just want the game to be the best it can, but the makers of the game have already put a great deal of work into this, and have tried to incorporate the fans ideas into it already, but even after all that, folks are still complaining. IMHO, it looks like people are just looking for faults now.

I hear yea. And usually i don't get stuck on little things like that. But after seeing the concept for Bella and then what the character actually turned into, i can see the nitpickers point of view. They took Vasquez and replaced her with someone off the cover of "Seventeen" magazine.

And i always thought it was funny too that Cameron made the marines look like they were dropping into Vietnam but then set it on what looked like the coldest planet ever.

If it wasn't for those nitpickers we would still have a goofy sounding Pulse Rifle with troy flip up sights.

Who says it was cold?

It was raining heavily, but it does that in tropical regions too.

In all fairness....there Jungle Camo was a little out of place in an urban enviroment

On a side note I would love to be able to steal the way they have done these Character Bios and do one for myself!

It wasn't true jungle camo though, it was very pale shades, so much closer to urban, imho.

Sweet Jesus. Is all everyone just going to bitch this game to death?

Games, like movies, are works of fantasy, and rarely nail something true to life, it's called artistic license.

Hell, even Caneron took liberties with the marines in Aliens. Ask any of the folks with even a minimal amount of training, they will tell you.

End of the day, it's Gearbox/SEGAs game, Fox trusts them with the license, and they will make the game they think will sell.

Be thankful they have made the effort on it and that they even bothered to reach out to the fan community.

If your not happy with it, make your own game.

Agreed! There's a difference between having a critical eye and going way overboard. If people want an exact Aliens...then watch Aliens! My expectations with all the game modes announced and the extra effort they are putting into this game has increased drastically!

I just read the Dec. issue of game informer. They had a writer play some of the game. He said he really leaning toward this being the game that brings aliens back to life. Said the environments are great, the tension in the game is real, when your goin down the corridor and every ping on the motion tracker makes you even more anxious. He also said the Xenos are awesome. CANT WAIT!!!!

I've starting playing AvP:2010 again to get "prepared".

But, compared with Aliens:CM, it feels clunky - the Marine in AvP:2010 feels a bit like he's wading in treacle in comparison.

Hell, im just happy this is finally, finally coming out!

With regards to the characters, I kind of feel for both sides. I have to admit, with Bella for example, I am a little 'Hmm' about her, but mainly for her 'look' in regards to the character being a marine. But, I know Gearbox and Sega have to appeal to a much wider audience than just us diehards.

Im going to wait for the game to come out and see everything in context before judging it, but given the way Gearbox have dealt with the franchise so far im convinced this is going to rock. Hard.

I've just realized. The picture of the Colonial Marine above which appears to be "Bishop's" legs. Shouldn't of they been sucked out of the air lock? I mean, there where heavy crates that the power loader had to move and they where sucked out of the air lock? =/

Dunno about how heavy the crates were, but Bishop's bottom half was thrown across the hangar bay, in the opposite direction to his top half and well away from where the airlock doors were, so maybe it got caught against something (the Dropship's landing gear?) to hold it back?
