The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford should be a polititian, as he says the report was not what he said, but he doesn't actually say that the game will be out this year anyway.

Well, Trevor Steedman insists that you never see his character die and his vitals dropping was, presumably, a malfunction in his armour ...

I like to believe that the misspelling is deliberate and it's just a homage?

Gearbox just tweeted the following :)

http://www.gearboxity.com/content/view/649/33/

Quote:
LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (June 1st, 2011) –SEGA® Europe Ltd. and SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced that the highly-anticipated first-person shooter, Aliens: Colonial Marines™, will be launching in spring 2012 on PC, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. In partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and developed by critically acclaimed studio Gearbox Software, Aliens: Colonial Marines will bring new levels of bone-chilling suspense and adrenaline-filled action to the renowned franchise. The game pits players against the universe’s ultimate alien killing machines, the Xenomorphs, in claustrophobic environments guaranteed to produce blood curdling thrills that the movie is renowned for. A first look of the game is presented in the South Hall at SEGA’s booth #2023, at this week’s E3 in Los Angeles...

A rather upsetting hint of Alien:Res/AvP to the silhouette of that Xeno ... :(

Or is it just my negative frame of mind that makes me see the dog legs, paddle tail and long/thin backspines?

Good:
The Sulaco and LV-426 (Hadley's Hope) are in the game
The general Aliens-ness of the whole thing, like fonts, sounds, general look, mentioning of characters, etc.
The graphics look nice from the tiny bit we can see.

Bad:
The WY logo is wrong
It mentions "Father"

The Alien looks okay to me, though I didn't look very closely.

It's just good to know that they have now announced it enough for them to be pretty sure it will actually be released! I can't wait. But I'll have to. :(

The timing of this was quite funny, as while I was watching it I had my Sentry Gun simulator software running on another computer (I'm updating it), so I had to keep rewinding the video as I couldn't hear the voice over the sound of Sentry Guns shooting

Nope, definitely a similar shape to the later versions, but the attacking ones in the extended trailer look much closer to the Aliens Xeno.

On freezeframe, they have the correct head - but the legs and tails are Alien:Res style, along with the really ugly four finger A:R hands :(

And the crawling one moves like it's dislocated it's hips. Alas, not many will care :(

The game as a whole should be awesome though! :)

trailer looks Epic but it looks like they just retooled AVP 2010 game engine because the graphics look the same as AVP especially the aliens

I'm not sure about that - the two games are made by two different developers and the Alien models look rather different to me.

This won't be a popular opinion, but based on that trailer at least, AvP2010 did a rather better job with the Xenos.

But, like I say - hopeful for an awesome game. I knew there was a good reason I kept my Xbox around! :)

AVP 2010's xeno's look better, but colonial marines is going to be a far far better game. Except maybe for G, who would rather kill marines then be marines.
