The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I played it with a friend, I'm used to playing on Hardened or Ultimate Bad Ass with 3 friends but boy... Soldier was enough of a challenge for me! The AI is much more aggressive in Bug Hunt!, the PMCs are still pretty easy to put down, but the aliens, wow!

I only made it to wave 20 on Soldier before going bankrupt and not being able to buy back in.

We weren't using headsets cause mine was charging but had we have been, we probably could have coordinated better. We got 3/5 suppressors, I was on my way to #4 in Operations on Tribute when I got wasted by 3 heavy PMCs and a small army of regular goons all pouring out of the stairway haha

Same here, and I totally agree! The xenos get tougher and are all up in your face in a heartbeat if you get cornered. I don't remember exactly how far we got but I think we were pretty close to the end. We managed to get past a couple of waves of PMCs, with the aid of two well-placed robot sentries and a good supply of frags, but then another wave of bugs started popping up out of the floors, and they were all spitters, lurkers, and some kind of beefed-up soldier type that took a lot of rounds to put down. I got mobbed and was only $30 short of buying back in, but then all my teammates went down shortly afterwards. It was definitely fun and plenty challenging though!

Yeah, headsets are basically a must-have for Bug Hunt. There's a little window of time to explore and get oriented between waves, but once the action starts it's critical to stay in communication and be ready to do whatever the situation calls for or things can go sideways in no time at all!

It's sounding like BUG HUNT is basically the game I was hoping for in the first place :)

From the introductory lesson I had today, it's going to take a lot of cooperation, skill, planning, and a fair amount of luck to make it through these missions in one piece!

You're not kidding! Also, activating the "suppressor" units is the key to playing this mode.
with each passing wave the enemy gains 10-25 percent improvements in their combat rating.
the suppressor units keep this more manageable. but if you don't access new areas and activate the units... you're hosed!

Rex, Dave and I played last night and on one map only activated one suppressor.
when we died, horribly, at wave 15, the enemy was operating at +195 percent! You know things are going bad when it takes over 40 rounds to put down ONE xeno!

Bug Hunt is fun and very challenging!

Fixed issue where Xeno death animation was not properly calculating momentum of the killing blow.
Smart Gun animation now properly tracks targets.
Addressed some instances where Xenos would display erratic animations.
Increased light radius for player's shoulder lamp.
Adjusted aim assist to better reflect player input.
Miscellaneous bug fixes.

On 360, when I loaded up the game the scrolling text on the main menu told me to go to the Downloadable Content option, when you do that it gives you the choice to download it.

Once that's done, it becomes the top option in the Versus menu.

Does it show up in the dlc section?

I had two items; Season Pass (purchased) and Bug Hunt (ready to d/l).

They did warn me onscreen in the game not to choose it in the Xbox Marketplace(store), as I'd be charged for it again, even though I have the season pass.

I'm not 100% sure that is the case. But it does seem that the wording is confusing for all of the platforms.

My Steam install didn't download Bug Hunt until about 20 mins ago, despite looking for it a few times in the last 12 hours.

On other games' season passes (on Xbox), the discount is when compared to buying each dlc separately as they come out (e.g. 4 x dlcs at £2.50, season pass for £8), so I reckon this is the same.

as it states purchase the Aliens colonial marines season pass and get access to all the add on packs at a 33% discount

Sounds like we need other PS3 owners to say how to download it. :|

If it wasn't there at first when you looked (before you bought it in the PSN store), then I guess something was wrong? :?

I am on PS3, don't have the season pass. Entered the Main menu of game and chose "DLC" to be informed that there was no DLC. I exited the game and went to the PS Store where I had to search for ACM:Bughunt. Bought it and downloaded in minutes. Not sure if that helps at all? My sister is trying to do the same and needs to update before she can even enter the PS Store! (60 mins).......she's not happy!

I have had a quick go on Bughunt on my own!....wow! now this is the ALIENS game I have been waiting for! That's more like it! No distractions, No O'Neil opening doors left, right and centre. Just me, cool locations, big guns and hordes of Aliens....GREAT! :)

So, I was wondering if anyone around here has also played Aliens: Infestation, the DS game that came out about a year ago. The reason I ask here is because the Marine crew in that game is also stationed aboard the Sephora and investigating the Sulaco. Here's the thing, though. We know from the patches used in Aliens that the platoon from the Sulaco was from 2nd Bat, 9th Regt and we know from the patches worn by Bishop and Reid in A:CM that the Sephora Marines are also 2nd/9th. Well, it just so happens that the Marines in Infestation are also 2nd/9th, according to the in-game character bios. Their commander is given as Lt Col Patrick Steele. Other bios reveal that the Infestation characters are from "1st Platoon." The radio callsigns in A:CM, Rhino 2-1 and Rhino 2-3 indicate that they are part of the 2nd Platoon of Rhino Company. I think it stands a good chance that Cruz, as he is only a captain after all, is Rhino's company commander while Steele is the battalion commander.

I just thought it was neat the way both these games fit together... somewhat. The stories still don't mesh well.

Hang on... Isn't there something in the intro text in A:CM about a... 186th Battalion or something? Can't remember exactly, but I know it struck me as odd...
