The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I don't think hours of gameplay is spoiler-rific. But take your time and enjoy it. We could have burned through but I took my time, searching around and taking it slow with the tracker out to stay frosty and freaked. Took several hours each night over three nights to get it done.

Like PVB I'm still waiting for mine to ship from Amazon! Grrr! :(

I've read some quite poor initial comments out there on the web but if you guys think it's good so far that’s good enough for me. It's opinion here that counts as far as I'm concerned so I'm pretty sure now that I'm going to love it!

Cheers.

John. :D

I'm also still waiting for Amazon to ship mine from the states to Japan, so probably won't have it for another week or so..... By that time most of you will probably have finished and be well into multiplayer insanity. Such is life. Guess I'll stay away from this thread till I've had a chance to play through it myself, at which time I'll jump back in here again to see what's what.

Like some have said here, and it's true, a huge portion of gamers are slavishly loyal to Halo or COD or any of the "popular" games to the point that anything else is instant garbage in their misguided opinions. I have no doubt some folks in this category won't like ACM. But I've never played Halo and don't like COD. We all have different tastes. I love ALIENS 'verse and this game is solidly within that. I want more to be sure but as fans we always do. We nitpick and dissect and chat and fight and laugh and cry about it all but in the end we simply adore it and will always be grateful for a chance to play with all these old friends again.

i agree with you so much on this. you know all the bad reviews will be from the ones that play said names and think they are the best. just like when BF3 and COD MW3 came out they all said MW3 was way better when it was the same game repackage pretty much as 2. i hate game reviewers now a days. they dont look into the game to see what its about. they just say good graphics and got MP and its a instant 9-10 point game. but t minus 14 hours for some of us. i just helped Gi-Rene get his armor finished last night showing him how i weathered my armor. so our launch with be epic.

Like others have said - take "reviews" with a grain of salt. In many of the events we did with SEGA, we'd see folks bitch and moan about a game until they got some free stuff; then it was the best game ever.

Meh - BF3 wouldn't even authenticate properly for me on EA's servers!!
Problem was later discovered, but I'd gotten a refund by then and completely lost interest.

As I'm sure Jon will confirm, a lot of the big reviewers have favourite publishers and even favourite game series. They'll always big up their faves and diss the rest, to the point where it's complete BS and they may even fire their staff for speaking out against a game from a favoured studio - Gamespot I think had a lot of controversy over that one...

The 'free stuff' thing is a similar bone of contention and often works the same in movies. Gear would be far more useful either charity-auctioned off to players, or better yet given away in random prize draws. Most of it will just end up in some journo's drawer collecting dust. That's how I acquired the ultra-rare promo t-shirt for my favourite film.

i'll take the thread on a little tangent right now, but i HATE that about modern video games, specifically comparing MW3 to BF3. MW3s story was boring and i can't tell you the last time i played the story where as the single player for BF3 was amazing and challenging, not to mention more realistic than MW3. i will admit the MP for BF3 is better on a computer format only because you can get more people playing which makes it more fun.

god if i hear that i will go slap the kid. but no 1 review the guy had no clue what the motion tracker was. and then had the nerve to say All games need to be Action packed from the start to keep people intreseted. are you stupid Aliens is meant to be on the edge of your set gaming. that is a true game if you are wantign to find out more and cant put it down, if a game has the same thing over and over it gets boring fast if its just shooting.that is why i just finished MoH Warfighter i luved the deep story in that game but people shot it down do to graphic's

Its funny how people are so critical of a game based on the movie who invented the genera. Futuristic soldiers going down corridors killing aliens. From doom to halo to dead space Evey one of those games owe it to aliens. The game is replicating the feel of the movie. Its not trying to reinvent the gaming world. That's usually how reveiwers reveiw . I always chuckel when when video game reveiwers Hale a new game as the second coming and it crashes. Example little big planet. Were all aliens fans here. And i bet this game is what the doctor ordered. Gear box did a great job about listening to the fans! Only a couple of more hours!

So, just completed the game. Well!

Won't do any plot spoilers, and haven't tried multiplayer yet.

Decent controls (very much like CoD), weapons sound just right. Some good banter between characters during main gameplay (your character speaks!!!)

*edited for 'supposed' spoilers

I'd rate if 7.5/10

Howdy all! Been a while since I've been on here, but I got my Collectors Edition for the PS3 ordered and should be getting it either Wednesday or Thursday. From seeing some of the gameplay and multiplayer, it seems somewhat familiar of COD. I'm overall excited about playing this game since its development for the past number of years.

Welp, Ive officially tipped over the edge and I'm going insane. The level of anticipation is beyond any holiday of the last few years.

I have officially decided I'm going to hit up the midnight launch 20 mins from my house, despite the fact my collector's edition is not there, and I will not be able to get the game there. I simply have to be near the action. Just have to. Can't sit around sleeping at a time like this!

I agree with PVB, Please be careful of posting anything that could reveal ANYTHING of the game here! Some of us haven't even received ours yet hence us being on here checking (even though we really shouldn't). Please don't give anything away or hint at "twists" as tempting as it must be for you. Serves myself right for looking. I think a seperate thread is the best bet :)

On another note I can't believe that the game can be completed in ONE DAY!!!!!!! well, actually I can believe it as that seems to be the norm these days. I think it's a shame though, I'm old school and I remember spending literally weeks on older games like res evil, metal gear, weeks of pure enjoyment I'll add. I know that these newer games will have a replay value, but then so did the others I mentioned. Just seems sad that all the time, effort and waiting goes into something for it to be "completed" in a day!
Anyway, like the rest of you I am dead excited!!! hoping that it will be here waiting for me when I get home from work tomorrow.
