The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Dammit, thought I'd caught that in time.

Can we ALL try to be a bit more careful about what we're typing when we post on the forum, please?

sorry Call of Duty. i have grown tired of that game and everyone making it seem like that is the best game in the world. but i cant wait to see what everyone's reviews on this game are....for what i have seen and played this should be one of the top games this year.

I simply cannot stand COD. In fact FPS in general has worn extremely thin to me. But having said that, I did NOT hate Aliens Vs Predator. And unless they have absolutely royally screwed up something in ACM, I will enjoy the crap out of it.

I do not need next gen graphics. What I've seen so far has been fine and dandy.
I do not need super advanced AI and ultra shader model 12 with fine pixelation and tessla junctions (I'm making that up...if you didn't catch that)

I need the following...
Aliens, Pulse Rifles, Marines, An ability to shoot said Aliens, A decent story.

If I have those then there is no way at all I won't enjoy this game. I don't need revolutionary gameplay or a 100 hour campain. I'm just glad the dang game is coming out and I KNOW I'm going to like it.

Like this "review" here...(no spoilers involved)

"Graphics are barely this gen. So imagine Quake4 from the launch window without the slowdowns but with framerate all over the place (it jumps between 25 and 60, at least thats how it feels). Heavy aliasing, shitty textures, shitty lighting, no mimic in character faces whatsoever. The "cutscenes" are super ugly, i couldn't believe it when i started the game up. Evern the start screen is low res :/."

Are you kidding me? Seriously? I'm a graphics fan just like anyone but beating down the game just because it doesn't have super duper textures is insane. You can't please everyone but I know this game was made for the fans. I am a fanboy. A hardcore fanboy. You simply can't please everyone.

Anyhows whatever is said graphics gameplay its too easy etc some of us myself included are not serious gameplayers, i dont care how it looks or the fact i have to be the best gameplayer in order to complete it for me a game is all about one thing FUN and if the said game revolves around one of may favorite subjects all the better, also having played parts of it 6 times already at various stages last year i loved it esp when the UKCM kicked SEGA's asses in multiplay

Holy crap I've gotta say this much...

After watching a few of the video's, the sound effects for the Pulse Rifle are PERFECT. First time ever in an Aliens game that they really nailed it.

see when you shoot something down like that its bull. this is a game that was meant to fit in somewhere. not to beat top games. but im sorry from what i have seen this is on par with next gen graphic's and if some1 doesnt like it o well its not there game. im so happy this game is almost here.

All I care about is if the game is fun! I loved the multiplayer in AvP so if it comes close to that I'm happy. I loved infestation mode so much!

Well guys so far the game has been great. There is so much going on. The attention to detail is great. My only complaint is the alien animations can be rather jerky.

Im only on level 4 - the game is quite hard!!

Will report more soon!

Bri

Just curious: going forward is this thread going to be super spoiler heavy? If so that's fine I just want to know as I'm going to be going at a snail's pace through the game but I'd still like to discover things for myself.

It makes sense for this thread to be the place for spoilers, I can always choose not to read it!

Let's keep the thread spoiler-free.

Played half an hour of a press copy of this earlier today, and definitely glad I pre-ordered. I'll be much happier when I get a chance to play it co-op.

Agreed. I was thinking about this earlier and I thought a separate "Spoiler heavy" thread would be a good idea.

Cruz is wearing M3 minus shoulders and Ab in game now. so they changed him up a bitfrom the promo shots.

I pre ordered mine from Sainsbury's although I am wishing that I'd read reviews of their service before I ordered as it seems that they're not too great at getting games out on time. Bugger!! Very tempted to nip out to Morrisons to see if I can pick it up and just cancel my order with sainsburys.

And you will have it sir, you will have it all.

Finished up late yesterday as we only played at night, lights off, sound way up, to keep the tension high. Had so much fun with the single player and enjoyed the hell out of multi too. My only complaint is that there isn't a sequel ready right now!

So to SEGA and Gearbox, thank you all for bringing us the ALIENS experience we've waited almost three decades for :)

So about how many hours do you estimate you spent on the single player? I have the day off work tomorrow in hopes of plowing through the campaign, but I estimate from the time 'I get home with the game' to the time 'my wife and kid get home from work/daycare (respectively)' I will only get about 7 hours of gaming in.

Pretty sure I wont finish (I will be enjoying it after all, not simply racing the clock) but curious to know just how close I might get.

EDIT: Unless of course anyone feels hours of single player is a spoiler. I dont think it is, but you never know. If anyone is hesitant please feel free to say so and I will seek the info in the other thread.
