The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

In Dom's defence (I'm sure he will chime in as well)...

To "The Gunny"- the ribbons are all pretty basic in colour and design for a reason- we found a supplier that provides actual ribbons to wear on our uniforms.

Originally Dom's ribbon designs were all very complex and quite attractive (based of the flag of the city the ribbon is for)- but trying to have them custom made into real ribbons proved to be not only expensive but a bit of a logistic nightmare (for instance most ribbon places had a minimum order of between 1000 and 10 000 slides per ribbon design).

After the supplier of generic ribbons was discovered, Dom altered all of his wonderful designs to accomodate the basic coloured ribbons of the supplier (which was actually pretty big of him).

This is why the Chris Chulamanis Memorial ribbon is all black.

Hope this helps.

I meant no disparage or disrespect to Dom in any way, especially for all his hard work in our community of Marines, I merely had an idea to pay the highest respects to a GREAT Marine (FNG – Chris Chulamanis) for all his “Above and Beyond” contributions…many which will probably go unsurpassed for a long time. I felt that to pay due respect to his stature within our said community, his memorial ribbon should be very distinctive and unique among all other ribbons. I did not realize that actual ribbons were being produced, I thought that only the artwork had been completed and wanted to offer a suggestion…Now in closing let me again state that it was only a suggestion…nothing more. It wouldn’t be hard to accomplish in reality…all you have to do is order the US Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon and remove the Gold border (it’s held on with a few bendable tabs on the reverse side) and install it on Chris’ Memorial Ribbon...you’re done.

I can't remember off of the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure that real-world medals/ribbons aren't worn on this uniform.

Commemoratives, on the flipside, are good; I have several listed and they're a great nod to your real-world service.

I remember discussing this with Dom, and though I have a good number of real-world decorations from my time with the USMC, I'd feel highly uncomfortable wearing them in this medium.

I appreciate your sentiments and concerns Gunny, but Kevin pretty much summed up the situation as it is. Please consider as well that we're not only American Marines and that (to my knowledge) Commonwealth ribbons do not have citation frames... at least I know for sure Canadian ones don't... I'm also trying to maintain a simple system. You are however welcome to modify your actual ribbon rack in whatever way you wish.

Done. I'll count that as Dallas 3, OK? You also qualify for Multi-Force Decoration. Please use this link for your ribbons and read the terms of use at this beginning of the thread. http://www.pbase.com/image/100486703/small.jpg

We did discuss it, and you did tell me your opinion on it, but I leave it to the individual to decide. Kevin, Chris and I had opted to include our real-world decorations. Chris won the Bronze Star and was very proud of it.

I need my ribbons updating:

London Colony Campaign x2
Adverse Service Medal - I trapped my foot under a massive metal gate on my way out to the con and spent the weekend limping everywhere. :(
Pte Chris Chulamanis Memorial Ribbon

Cheers! :D

And in 2005 Scott and I went to his work party (Scott qualifies as well).

One suggestion- Paradestore has an Orange/Black ribbon- wouldn't this be more in tune with Halloween colours?

Oh cool.

My 4 years of ROTC qualify me for the Multi-Service Decoration.

Maybe later in the year, I can start earning some more....

With all the Ribbons and stuff going around, I wonder if anyone as looked at the Qualification Badges / Awards (i.e. - Marksmanship M41A, etc.). If memory serves me correctly, I don't remember any one stating that they were working on these except for the Dropship Wings. Well...I will start the process with conceptional art work but I'am not a Photoshop person...have to be hand drawn, if anybody else has this idea...PM or Post me to let me know...I also though about a CBI (Combat Infantryman's Badge) but I know the Marines don't have one unless they received it from the Army previously and with special permission to wear...any thoughts?
