The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I may have said this before but I'd be reluctant to make this from paper, or even card as it could be so easily damaged. I wonder if there's a method of making it from something stronger?

Harry

Have you thought about gluing the prints to very thin plasticard?

There's always the worry that the prints would either fade, shrink slightly or begin to peel off. Of course one idea would be to make the whole thing out of plastic sheet using Jan's patterns as an outline template only, then paint it in the conventional manner.

this is the way too....use it as the template for the plastic model.

I am going cheaper way ...The paper way 8)
and when the model IS boring you.....the end of it is in the spectacular flames :D

(recomended thickness for Sulaco is 200~250g/m2)...but for smaller parts is suitable 160g/m2 (perfect for top and bottom railgun)

You could get the stuff printed onto vinyl self adhesive using a dye sublimation printer, most vinyl sign companies offer it but it wont be cheap.

It's amazing how rigid simple paper can become when dosed with household superglue and depending on the printer you use the glue will cure before it has a chance to make the printed ink run. Might be worth a trial swatch on a couple of small pieces?

Im preparing for ALIENSPAPERCRAFT CUP 2013 competition. 8) Don´t be fooled, the USS Sulaco is allmost done from one side only

...it´s two things: doing the papercraft and glueing the papercraft...so the prototype is not finished as far as i wanted.

This is going to sound stupid, but that is actually a far more manageable size for the finished product than I had thought it would be. It's still a beast, but I could see making room for it in my house...
