You don't Need to drill the holes there is a much easier way.

Just use a Steel punch.
Just hit the markings where the holes should go with the Punch and a Hammer so Long untill You have a sort of boil in the Inside of the helmet,You then take a Hand Grinder and just Grind down the boils, and there You have your holes, believe me it Works don't go giving lots of Money out for expensive drill Bits.

I use a dremill with a hardend Disk extra for hard Steel to Cut the slits for the lobster plates. And for the earflap i just used a Hand Grinder for the Cut out.

This all Works realy well.

Been reading the guide and it is great. Wondering about the steel pot M1 helmets. I see the link for the replica helmets but am wondering if the steel pot is used for all the characters? I am planning on working on a Hudson costume and it looks like he had just the liner not the steel pot. Granted his helmet has a cover so it would need to be both parts but am I missing something? Flip side is I am not looking forward to cutting and drilling the steel.

Dunno where you got the idea that some only wore the liner, but Harry's site confirms M1 used by Hudson:

It just looks like it in some of the pictures that there is only one helmet not both liner and steel pot. I figured I was wrong since there is so much info on modifying the steel pots for the add on's. Just wanted to confirm I was seeing things wrong. Thanks for clearing that up PVB and thanks for the info on cutting and drilling Schotti.

I might be a bit slow, but is there possibly a template for making metal grenades team?

Failing that, where is the best place to get them made?

Please?

Just wanted to chime in and say 'thanks' to those that put together this document; it has been a huge help in getting parts together for the various props etc.
I've been wanting to do it for a long while but did not really know where to start.
So - Thanks!

It was great to have the printout at LFCC next to a PR to show the different parts
and to show what we are doing at this forum.

The first book prints arrived today and I will bring them to Dublin Comic Con.
After that I hope to find time to work on some build descriptions.

Awesome work!

Just to add- the perpetual motion desk topper- the one you linked to (with the small black spheres) was also in the movie as well as the one with the fewer larger spheres:

Lots of good stuff in there. Ive been looking continuously for a 3A Steadicam vest and always seem to miss by a day to a few weeks. :( I had a build thread about how I made a look-a-like vest from an Indian vest. One thing I like about this group is having the leeway to do stuff that looks like it could have been in the movie but don't have to match exactly a screen used component. Most people at DeragonCon never notice that I don't have a 3A vest and arm, they just see the really big gun on an arm and go nuts. While I'm always looking for stuff to make it better, I would hate to have someone discouraged to build or join if they think they need to match exactly what is in this manual. :)

Exactly. I may post a lot of minutia crap, but my actual collection is full of "close enough"! I really hope people realize that 'close enough' is still great. If I didn't hammer that point home in the document, I will make every effort to do improve that point in what I can of v2.0

Knowing the correct items is the best way to judge what is "close enough"! This hobby can be damned expensive and the general public really doesn't know the minutia so we have some latitude.

I never noticed brown vs blue on the Xenos, but I think it because I still get chills every time I see that character at a con

We had it for Display and to Talk about it at LFCC and DCC.
Fans like it a lot.
Wan't miss it for other Cons.
Thanks to everyone contributing.

I wonder if someone could whip up a cover for this sort of like the Pulse Rifle manual from Derrick Baena?

It would be cool to have it look like an "in universe" manual on uniforms or somesuch. What do folks think?

After dragoncon I can spend a few hours and come-up with something. Ive been looking for things to try and draw in CorellDraw. You're thinking like an AR-670-1 "wear and appearance of uniforms", only for USCM universe?

Awesome guide.

With regards to the Lieutenant's unform, Chef can make Custom ones upon request. That's where I got mine from, see...

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15892

First pic is me wearing an OG-507 costume which I adapted (which looks the part but not 100% screen accurate), the later pics were the custom uniform I got from Chef (which is as near as you can get to a screen accurate uniform without stealing the one Harry Harris has in his collection)

Just stumbled upon this while I did a search for patch placement for the uniform. Outstanding work and effort to both you Mantroon and Bigbisont. Now to track down some patches :)
