The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hope this is the correct section....

I was just wondering if there's a particular reason the UK CM guys don't wear British Issue DPM, rather than American BDUs?

Cheers,
Woody.

We try to be SA as possible, so most of us wear SA BDU'S if we can afford them..
The only non SA thing we wear are the UKCM patches...

To be honest it doesn't really matter what you wear. Wasn't there someone wearing Multicam a little while back? You've only got to look through the Tech Manual to see some of the different camo patterns used by the USCM (not SA obviously ;) ).

I did wonder.

I was reading the threads on different dress uniforms and thought, if the influence of a nation is such that they retain a seperate identity in unit patches and dress uniforms, why not with combats?

Then again, realistically you'd try and 'cam up' to match your surroundings, including choosing an appropriate set of combats.....

However, were this the true reality, we'd all be yomping about a verdant green colony world wearing either Desert or Arctic White camo uniforms because the administration hasn't managed to issue the correct kit to us yet!!!!!

So would there be any particular quibble if a UKCM went to a drop in British issue DPMs?

I'll just claim to be "on secondment from "another unit" as a consultant'........ 8)
You know - 22nd Special Space Service regiment or something

TBH, I really like some of the improvised extrapolations people like Sgt Burton have done here.
Whilst I love the PRs as much as anyone, I don't see why the combat services of the future wouldn't have special forces detachments and other such variations.

Off to read some more of the Technical Manual and see what I can come up with!!!

I actually think temperate 95 / desert 95 looks better under a set of Colonial Marine armour than the 'SA' modified frog and leaf, but I think I may be in the minority...

Plus, I've stopped wearing armour and turned rupert, which proves how little sense I have. :)

At initial glance, yes.

However, having seen SA BDUs up close, the difference is staggering and utterly stark when the two are next to each other.

I initially thought standard DPMs would be fine with armour, until I saw the Alien War guys and suddenly saw the gaping chasm of contrast!!

Its up to the individual what they wear. Its your costume! most people try to go SA because we are basing our costumes off of a movie after all! iv often thought about wearing british issue insead f bothering with safariflage or SA but then I look at it as the uniform being company issue or something and going with SA.

I reckon I'll end up being SA for the most part.

The basics will be SA, but there will be small individual touches - Like Hicks and Vas carrying their own choice of secondary weapon. Many already opt for bandannas, jungle hats and so on anyway.

I may have sorted the BDUs. Need armour and a weapon next......

Go for it mate. I wear SA BDU's but with old style UKCM patches, Scottish flag, UK army stripes and ship patch.
